一、時間介詞
1
at,on,in
A. 介詞at用來表示某時刻或時段、節日、年齡等。
例:at 2 o’clock,at dawn 在黎明,at noon,at night,at the weekend(on the weekend [美])/ the end of the week;at 25 / at the age of 25;at Christmas
I only see him at weekends (on weekends [美]). 我只在週末和他見面。
B. 介詞on用來表示某一天或星期幾,指明具體的時間。
例:on a rainy day;on your birthday;on Monday;on May the first / the first of May 在五月一日;on the evening of May the first(特指)
Let’s go out for a meal on Monday night. 週一晚上我們出去吃吧。
The museum is closed on Mondays. 博物館每逢星期一閉館。
C. 介詞in用來表示一天中某段時間,指世紀、年、月、季節等。
例:in the morning / afternoon / evening(泛指);in the 21st century;in 2017;in March;in spring / summer / autumn / winter
It’s a bit much calling me at three in the morning. 凌晨3點鐘打電話給我,太過分了。
He works best in the mornings. 他早上工作效率最高。

in與after
A. 介詞in + 一段時間用於一般將來時。
例:The term will begin in two weeks. 再過兩週就開學了。
B. 介詞after + 一段時間用於一般過去時。
例:My mother came home after half an hour.
C. 介詞after + 時間點常用於一般將來時。
例:We’ll go out for a walk after supper.

for與since
A. 介詞for 表示一段時間。
例:I have been living here for 10 years. 我在這兒住了10年了。
I’m going away for a few days. 我要離開幾天。
He worked non-stop for three months. 他連續不斷的工作了三個月。
B. 介詞since 表示從過去某一時間以來。
例:We’ve been waiting here since two o’clock. 我們從2點開始就在這裡等了。
Mary hasn’t phoned since she went to Berlin. 瑪麗自從去了柏林還沒有打來過電話。

during與for
A. 當所指的時間起止分明時用介詞during。
例:During the summer she worked as a lifeguard. 夏天她當過救生員。
He slept calmly during the early part of the night. 他上半夜睡得很安穩。
B. 指一段時間,不強調起止,則用介詞for。
例:I haven’t seen her for years. 我有幾年沒見過她了。

before與by
A. 介詞before表示“在······之前”。
例:He spent his early life in China before moving to Canada. 移居加拿大前,他早年生活在中國。
It will be some time before we know the full results. 還要過一些時間我們才能知道全部結果。
B. 介詞by表示“到······時為止;不遲於”。如果by後是將來的時間,則常與將來完成時連用,若by後是過去的時間,則常與過去完成時連用。
例:By 2019 the population will have risen to over 20 million. 到2019年人口將超過二千萬。
He had finished the work by ten o’clock this morning. 到今天上午十點鐘, 他已完成了這項工作。

till與until
A. till和until用在肯定句中,均可表示“直到······為止”。
例:I will wait till / until seven o’clock. 我會等到7點。
B. till和until用在否定句中,均可表示“直到······才”。
例:Tom didn’t come back till (until) midnight. 湯姆直到半夜才回來。
C. 在句首,用until而不用till。
例:Until he comes back, nothing can be done.

不用介詞表達時間的情況
A. 當表示時間的詞前有this,that,next,last時,其前面不用介詞。
例:this morning,next Sunday,last Sunday。
B. 當表示時間的詞前有one,any,each,every,some或all時,其前面通常不用介詞。
例:The letter should arrive any day now. 信很快就到。
Hurry up! He’ll be back any minute now. 快點!他隨時都會回來。
He worked all day without a break. 他接連工作了一整天。
注:time前有B中所列不定代詞時情況有所不同。
例:The volcano could erupt at any time. 這座火山隨時可能爆發。
Everyone experiences these problems at some time in their lives. 每個人在人生的某個階段都會經歷這些問題。
二、方位介詞與地點介詞

on,over,above
A. 介詞on意為“在······上”,指接觸物體表面或構成物體表面的一部分。
例:a picture on a wall 牆上的畫
the exercise on page 5 第五頁上的練習
B. 介詞over即可指部分或全部覆蓋,也可指垂直懸空的上下關係。
例:She put a blanket over the sleeping child. 她給熟睡的孩子蓋上毯子。
They held a large umbrella over her. 他們給她撐起一把大傘。
C. 介詞above表示一般的“高於······;在······之上”。
例:The water came above our knees. 水淹過了我們的膝蓋。
We were flying above the clouds. 我們在雲層上面飛行。

under與below
A. 介詞under是over的反義詞即“在······下方”。
例:Have you looked under the bed? 你看了床底下沒有?
B. 介詞below是above的反義詞即“低於······;在······之下”。
例:I could hear voices in the courtyard below my window. 我聽到窗戶下面的院子裡有人在說話。Please don’t write below this line. 請不要在這條線下面書寫。

across,through,over,past,round(around [美])
A. 介詞across著重於“從一頭或一邊到另一頭或另一邊”,強調從表面穿過。
例:She walked across the field. 他走過田地。
I drew a line across the page. 我在這一頁上畫了一條線。
B. 介詞through著重於“穿越”,強調從一定的空間內穿過。
例:The path led through the trees to the river. 這條小路穿過樹林通向河邊。
She smiled at him as he walked through the door. 他從門口進來,她朝她笑了笑。
C. 介詞over多表示從“上方越過”。
例:a bridge over the River Thames 泰晤士河上的一座橋
Somehow the sheep had jumped over the fence. 不知怎麼地,那隻羊跳過了圍欄。
D. 介詞past表示從“旁邊經過”。
例:Will you be going past my house on your way home? 你回家的路上會經過我家嗎?
E. 介詞round(around [美])表示“繞過”。
There she is, coming round the corner. 她來了,繞過拐角過來了。
If the gate is locked, you will have to go round the side of the house. 如果大門鎖上了,你們就得從房子側面繞過去。

A. 介詞in表示“排、列、行”。
例:We at in a row at the back of the room. 我們在屋子的後面坐成一排。
B. 介詞on表示“左、右”。
例:Take the next road on the left. 在下一個路口向左拐。
C. 介詞at表示“前、後”。
例:I sit at the front of the classroom.

A. 介詞to表示方向。
例:I walked to the office. 我朝辦公室走去。
He’s going to Paris. 他就要去巴黎了。
B. 介詞for表示人動身去某地或交通工具的目的地。
例:the train for Manchester 開往曼徹斯特的列車
A few days later she would be leaving for New York. 過幾天她就要去紐約了。

A. 介詞at用於門牌號。
例:They live at 18 Victoria Street. 他住在維多利亞街18號。
B. 介詞on用於路名,河岸及海岸。
例:a store on Fifth Avenue 第五大道上的一家商店
a town on the south coast of England 英格蘭南海岸的一座城鎮
It’s on the north bank of the River Thames. 它在泰晤士河北岸。

例:Shanghai is in the south of China.
B. 介詞on表示“接壤”。
例:Canada lies on the north of the US. 加拿大在美國北邊。

C. 介詞to表示“不接觸”
例:Japan lies to the east of China. 日本在中國東邊。
三、其他易混介詞

表示“用”的介詞in,with,by
A. 介詞in表示使用的語言、材料等。
例:Say it in English. 用英語說吧。

B. 介詞with表示使用工具或某物。
例:Cut it with a knife. 用刀把它切開。
What will you buy with the money? 你會用這筆錢買什麼?
C. 介詞by用於交通工具,或表示方式、方法,意為“以;通過”。
例:by car / train / bus / taxi等;by air / sea / land / road / rail等
You can book a room by phone. 你可以通過電話訂房間。
She earns her living by selling insurance. 她以推銷保險為生。

A. 介詞between 表示“在兩者之間”
例:I sat down between Sue and Jane. 我在休和簡中間坐了下來。
B. 介詞among表示“在······當中(三者或以上)”。
例:A house among the trees 樹林中的一座房子
I found the letter among his papers. 我在他的文件中找到這封信。
The girl quickly disappeared among the crowd. 女孩很快消失在人群中。

介詞besides與except
A. 介詞besides表示“除······之外(還)”。
例:We have lots of things in common besides music. 除了音樂,我們還有很多共同點。
Besides working as a doctor, he also writes novels in his spare time. 除了當醫生之外,他在業餘時間還寫小說。
B. 介詞except表示不包括,“除······之外”。
例:The office is open everyday except Sundays. 辦事處除星期天之外天天都開門
