過去完成時(The past perfect tense)
定義：過去完成時表示過去某一時刻或某一動作之前完成的動作或呈現的狀態。也就是說發生在“過去的過去”。
構成：had＋done 被動式：had been done
1. 出現by, by the time, by the end of +過去的時間，主句一般用過去完成時
1) By the end of last month, I __________ (read) three books.
2) By the time he arrived at the station, the train_________(leave).
2. 主語+過去完成時，when / before 引導的從句（從句用_______）
1）The thieves __________ (run) away, when the police arrived.
2）I had brushed my teeth, before he _________ (get) up.
3. This /It is the first/ second ……time + that從句（用現在完成時）
This/ It was the first/ second ….time+ that 從句（用過去完成時）
1）That is the second time that she ___________(see) her grandfather.
2）It was the second time I ____________(visit) Shanghai.
4. 在賓語從句或間接引語中，如果主句是過去時，從句動作先於主句動作發生，從句用過去完成時
The monitor told me that everyone _________ (do) well in the examination.
