You can say that again？是讓我再說一遍嗎？
相信這句話你每一個單詞都看得懂，並且覺得對方是讓你把話再說一遍，然而，這個超級常用的習語卻不是讓你把話重新說一遍哦！
其實在英語裡面，有很多很多You can/can't開頭，並且單詞簡單並且非常實用的習語，就像中國的成語一樣，既不需要記很複雜的單詞，也能表達出很多特別棒的意思。
今天，罐頭菌來說一些You can/can't開頭常用的習語。
1.You can say that again. 你說的沒錯。
這裡並不是指讓你把話重新說一遍，而是給說話人表達自己贊同對方的看法。
A：This horrible weather has been killing me.
B：You can say that again.
A：這恐怖的天氣真的折磨我。
B：你說的沒錯。
2.You can bet your life 肯定，確切。
當你確定某個事情或者事件在未來肯定會發生時，你就可以用You can bet your life表示肯定。
A：Will I need a coat today?
B：You bet your sweet life! It'scolder than an iceberg out there.
A：今天我需要穿外套嗎？
B：是的。哪裡比冰山還要冷。
3.You can't judge a book by its cover. 你不能以貌取人。
表面的意思是指不能根據一本書的封面來判斷，就是中文“不能以貌取人”的意思。
He seemed like a bit of a jerk to me, but I guess you can't judge a book by itscover.
雖然他看上去有點傻傻的，但我認為你不應該以貌取人。
4.You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
翻譯過來的意思是：你可以把馬領到水邊，但你不能逼迫他喝水。一般寓意是指：你可以為一件事情/一個人創造各種條件，但事情卻不一定會成。
A: I just don't understand. We've given him the very best education and introduced him to the rightpeople, but he just won't pursue a meaningful career.
B: Well, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make itdrink.
A：我真的不能理解。我們已經給他非常好的教育並給他介紹了很多人，但他還是追求不到成功的事業。
B：是的，你能把馬領到水邊，但卻不能逼迫它喝水。
5.You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs 有失才有得
不打破雞蛋的話，就做不了一個雞蛋餅。意思就是隻有失去才會有得到。
If I don't cut people's salaries, the company is going to go bankrupt. It's unfortunate, but you can't make an omelet withoutbreaking eggs.
假如我不減薪，公司就會倒閉。雖然這很不幸，但有失才有得。
6.You can't have your cake and eat it. 魚與熊掌，不可兼得。
你不能在擁有蛋糕的同時又能吃掉它，吃掉或者持續擁有隻能擇其一。其實就是我們中文裡“魚與熊掌，不可兼得”的意思。
You're never going to save enough money to buy a house if you keep buying expensive appliances and cars. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.
假如你一直買一些昂貴的設備和汽車，那你永遠不能存夠錢買房子，魚與熊掌，不可兼得。
