Atletico Mineiro is having a great season as they currently sits second in the table with 20 points, only six behind the leader, and have lost only three of the 11 played so far, winning six and scoring more goals than anybody else in the league, 22, and are unbeaten in the last three, winning the last two back to back.
The only bad turn of the season so far has been the knockout of the Copa Sudamericana in a narrow 1-0 aggregate against San Lorenzo. They have only lost one of the nine home games played so far, winning five, and more importantly, keeping five clean sheets.
They will host Ceará, rock bottom with only five points and are yet the only team to achieve a victory this season, losing six and drawing five. They have scored six goals and conceded 16, and haven’t scored in five of the last six played in all competitions and their away record is something to worry about, losing three of six, but conceding 10 goals in the process and not being able to score in three of them, so the hosts should be able to take the three points comfortably.
