嘿，大家好！我們今天來聊一個很有意思的表達：That’s interesting！我想這句話的意思大家都應該知道是：真有意思，真有趣；
不過在很多情況下，它的意思可能會有不同的含義哦！
我們先來看下面幾個例句：
Student: In my opinion, this question is related to biochemistry.
Teacher: Oh, that’s interesting.
大家可以猜一下這句話裡面的interesting到底是什麼意思？老師真的覺得這位學生的回答很有趣很有意思嗎？
其實，實際情況並不是這樣的。在美國的大學裡，學生在回答老師問題的時候都非常積極，老師一旦提出問題，就會有很多同學踴躍發言。但這時候學生們的回答大多都是奇思妙想、千奇百怪甚至不著邊際。
有時候，如果老師覺得學生回答得不對，也不會明確指出而是用一句：That’s interesting！（這很有趣嘛！）來鼓勵學生繼續回答，而不打擊學生的積極性。有時候也會說：That’s an interesting point.
在Tommy看來，這真的是一種非常好的回答方式。既鼓勵了學生，又不會讓學生覺得因為自己沒回答對而不再敢回答。
好了，我們再來看看跟interest有關的實用表達：
①in the interest of saving time （in order to hurry things along; in order to save time. ）為了節約時間（in the interest of = 為了）
Mary: In the interest of saving time, I'd like to save questions for the end of my talk.
為了節省時間，我想在我結束講話後再回答問題。
Bill: But I have an important question now!
但我現在有一個重要的問題！
②draw interest （to appear interesting and get (someone's) attention）引起關注
This kind of event isn't likely to draw a lot of interest.
這樣的活動不太可能引起大家的關注。
③interest （A person or organization that has an interest in an area, a company, a property or in a particular type of business owns stock in it.）股權（這裡的stock是指股份）
My father had many business interests in China.
我父親在中國有許多公司股權。
