大家從字面上看是：“睡在上面”的意思。其實sleep on it. 表示的是：考慮一下；深思熟慮。
人類自古以來就有日出而作日落而息的習慣。既然說要睡在上面，就有一種要休息了，有什麼事也等到明天再說的含義。接著就是，sleep on it也就有了"考慮一晚上，事情等到第二天再解決"的意思。
