英文單詞中，很多詞組有多種看上去毫不相關的含義。比如我們今天要講的Take in，除了我們常見的吸收、容納的含義，居然還可以表示欺騙！來看今天的乾貨分享吧！
Take in 不只“吸收”，還有“欺騙”
Take 有很多用法和解釋，衍生出的短語Take in 也有幾種不同的意思。字面意義為接受(take)到內部(in)，表示接受為新成員或留宿在家中。另外，如果涉及到服裝尺寸，則有改小的意思。還有一種含義，表示“欺騙”，來看下面的例句吧：
例句：
1）接受新成員
They didn't take Andy in as a new member of the club.
他們沒有將安迪接受為新成員。
2）留宿
I can't take you in tonight.
我今晚不能留你過夜。
3）改小衣物
Can you have these pants taken in?

4）欺騙
Take in 表示欺騙，常用於被動語態中，表示“被欺騙”，同 be deceived。
Glenn: Do you know the reason why Paul quit?
格倫：你知道保羅辭職的原因嗎？
Warner: He was taken in by a client and it cost a lot.
沃納：他被一個客戶欺騙，導致公司虧損一大筆錢。
以前常說的”忽悠”怎麼表達呢？
談到欺騙，容易聯想到當年本山大叔那句“忽悠”，如何用英語表達出“忽悠”的含義呢？
“忽悠”相當於“愚弄”、“糊弄”或“捉弄”，具有詼諧、生動的意味。
英語最好不要譯為to deceive或to cheat這樣普通的動詞，而譯為 to jerk sb around，to hoodwink等俚語說法，更能表達出“忽悠”的俚語感，比如：
Don't jerk me around！I won't be taken in.
別忽悠我！我不會上當。
The investor was hoodwinked into buying junk stocks.
這個股民被忽悠，買了垃圾股。
