make it 是英語口語中一個十分有用的習語。近年來，它開始在高考題中頻頻出現。你知道它的含義和用法嗎？
【常見用法】
1. 表示事業獲得成功
You will make it if you try. 你會成功的，如果你努力的話。
He’s never really made it as an actor. 他當演員從未有所成就。
2. 表示某人做成某事
You needn’t worry; he will make it. 你不必擔心，他會辦成的。
I thought he would be too old to get to the top of the mountain, but he made it at last.
我原以為他年紀大爬不到山頂，但最後他還是爬上去了。
3. 表示及時趕上火車等
The train leaves in five minutes — we’ll never make it.
火車再有五分鐘就開了——我們絕對趕不上了。
4. 表示及時抵達某地
We are too late; I don’t think we can make it.
我們太遲了，我想我們難以準時趕到了。
If you can’t make it on Friday, we can invite somebody else.
如果你星期五趕不到，我們可邀請其他人。
5. 表示約定時間
—When shall we meet again?
我們什麼時候再次碰頭？
—Make it any day you like; it’s all the same to me.
隨你定在哪天，我無所謂。
6. 表示病情好轉
The doctor knew that the patient was unlikely to make it.
醫生知道那個病人沒什麼希望了。
注意：
我們所講的習語make it 中的 it無實際含義，不同於以下make結構中的it：
I have to make it clear that my family is poor.
我得說清楚我家裡很窮。
He made it a rule to take part in physical labor.
他規定自己應參加體力勞動。
—Where is my tea? 我的茶呢？
—I’m just going to make it. 我這就沏。
（例1、例2中的it是形式賓語；例3中的it是代詞，指代上文中的tea。）
