FAR與14CFR

《美國聯邦法規》(Code of Federal Regulations,簡稱CFR)是美國聯邦政府執行機構和部門在 "聯邦公報" (Federal Register,簡稱FR)中發表與公佈的一般性和永久性規則的集成，具有普遍適用性和法律效應。

CFR共50篇（title），部分有章（subtitle），分別代表聯邦法規的各個領域；每章中有若干節（chapter），各節通常以法規頒發機構的名稱為標題，有的節還分為分節（subchapter）；每一節中包含特定的法規領域的若干部分（Part），有的部分由於內容多，又分為子部分（subpart）。每一部分由包含具體法規的若干小節（section）組成。 由此可見，CFR的層次有篇、章、節、分節、部分、子部分、小節。

由下可以看出，Title 14: Aeronautics and Space是航空航天相關的規定

根據44 U.S.C. 1510的規定， CFR每年至少補充、重新核對出版一次。通常，CFR的修訂本公佈順序為：

目前， Title 14主要包括以下五個章節的內容，其中第一章(Chapter I)包括parts 1-199,為航空相關的法規, 所以FAR主要是指14 CFR chapter I 的內容，FAR是CFR Title 14的一部分，

也就是14CFR Parts 1-199的內容。但是由於Title 48 是Federal Acquisition Regulation,縮寫也是FAR，為了避免混淆，因此，FAA經常寫成 "14CFR Part XX".

那麼，14CFR parts 1-199中，哪幾個章節是民航運輸機維修設計經常使用到的呢？ 主要有以下幾個：

Part 21：Certification procedures for products and parts

Part 25: Airworthiness standards: Transport category airplanes

Part 39：Airworthiness Directives

Part 43: Maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding, and alteration

Part 65: Certification: Airmen other than flight crewmembers

Part 91: General operating and flight rules

Part 121: Certification and operations: domestic, flag, and supplemental air carriers and commercial operators of large aircraft

Part 145: Repair Stations

Part 147: Aviation maintenance technician schools.
