如果說當美國總統最需要的是“自信”，也許很多人都不會反對。民主黨的一位重量級人物去年12月剛剛說過“我是最有資格成為總統的人”，週四竟真的“官宣”，表示要競選2020美國總統了。
據彭博社、《紐約時報》等消息，美國前副總統約瑟夫·拜登（或喬·拜登）於當地時間4月25日在推特上發佈視頻，宣佈參加美國2020總統大選。
Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday formally announced his entry into the race to be the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for the 2020 election by releasing an official video on Twitter.
拜登在發佈的視頻中說：“我們正處於一場捍衛這個國家靈魂的戰爭之中。”
“美國的核心價值觀、我們在世界上的地位、我們的民主……這一切造就了美國的東西如今正岌岌可危，這就是今天我宣佈競選美國總統的原因。”
He is expected to make his first public appearance as a candidate on Monday at an event in Pittsburgh featuring union members, a key constituency.
拜登 V.S. 特朗普：“隔空互懟”大戲
拜登在發佈的競選視頻中表示，不能讓現任總統、共和黨人特朗普獲得連任。
“如果我們讓特朗普在白宮待8年，那麼他將永久地、從根本上改變這個國家的本質。”
然而，現年76歲、被《衛報》稱為“民主黨內最突出的候選人”的拜登，在1988年和2008年兩度競選美國總統時，均以失敗告終。2008至2016年，拜登在民主黨總統奧巴馬的兩屆任期內出任副總統。
此次將是他第三度挑戰入主白宮。
Biden, 76, had been wrestling for months over whether to run. His candidacy will face numerous questions, including whether he is too old and too centrist for a Democratic Party yearning for fresh faces and increasingly propelled by its more vocal liberal wing.
Still, he starts as the leader of the pack in opinion polls of a Democratic field that now will total 20 contenders seeking the chance to challenge President Donald Trump, the likely Republican nominee, in November 2020.
競選還未開始，拜登和特朗普已上演了一幕幕“約架”戲碼，引來不少媒體和網友圍觀。
特朗普在拜登表態參選後，第一時間致了“歡迎詞”，稱拜登為“昏昏欲睡的喬”，並表示“我只希望你有足夠的智商（這點長期具有爭議），進行一場成功的初選。”
Within hours of Biden's announcement, Trump called the 76-year-old former vice president "Sleepy Joe" on his official Twitter account, and refered to him as someone whose "intelligence" had been "long in doubt."
對此，拜登一笑置之，對著鏡頭說
“誰不瞭解特朗普呢。”Biden laughed off Trump's tweet by saying "everybody knows Donald Trump."
去年，拜登在邁阿密大學的一次演講中，提到飽受詬病的特朗普歧視女性的言論時表示，“一個最終成為我們國家領導人的人說，‘只要是我喜歡的女人，我就可以得到她’。有人問我要不要和這位‘紳士’辯論一下，我說‘不’。因為如果我們在高中，我會把他帶到健身房後面，暴打他一頓。”
Last year, Biden said he would "beat the hell" out of Trump if the two were in high school because of the way the president has talked about women.
特朗普隨即在自己的推特上回擊，“瘋狂的喬·拜登試著讓自己表現得像個硬漢。然而事實上，他真的很弱，身心都很弱。”並稱，“他根本不瞭解我的厲害，我會很快把他打倒打哭。”
That prompted Trump to call him "Crazy Joe Biden" and claim on Twitter that Biden would "go down fast and hard, crying all the way" if they fought.
Biden later lamented the exchange, saying "I shouldn't get down in the mosh pit with this guy."
美國最近一系列民調顯示，在民主黨眾多總統候選人中，民眾更偏向支持前副總統拜登。而且與特朗普相比，拜登支持率也毫不遜色。

Known for his verbal gaffes on the campaign trail, Biden failed to gain traction with voters during his previous runs in 1988 and 2008.
He dropped his 1988 bid amid allegations he plagiarized some of his stump oratory and early academic work. But his experience and strong debate performances in 2008 impressed Obama enough that he tapped Biden as his running mate.
“和善老人” or “鹹豬手政治家”？
不過，就在競選呼聲高漲之際，作為民主黨 “種子選手”的拜登卻接連被曝“不當行為”醜聞。
As Biden neared his campaign launch, his challenges came into greater focus.
此前，前內華達州州議員弗洛蕾斯自訴，在2014年一場競選活動上，拜登曾將手放在她的肩膀上，聞了她的頭髮，並親吻了她的後腦勺。
不久，拜登發表聲明，強烈否認弗洛蕾斯對他的指控，不過承諾會“恭敬地傾聽”任何對他“不當行為”的指控。
拜登在聲明中說，“在我多年的競選活動和公共經歷中，我進行了無數次的握手、擁抱，並表達我的感情、支持和安慰。而我相信，我從來沒有過不恰當行為。如果有人說我這樣做過，我會恭敬地傾聽。但這絕不是我的意圖。”
他還表示，“我仍是女性權利的最堅強倡導者，我將繼續做好我在職業生涯中所做的工作，讓針對女性的暴力行為早日終結，並確保女性得到應有的平等待遇。”
而在今年4月，時任美國眾議員吉姆•希姆斯助理的艾米•拉博斯也向媒體爆料，在2009年的一場籌款活動中，“時任美國副總統的拜登把手放在我的脖子上，拉住我，並用鼻子蹭我的鼻子，我想他接下來可能要吻我。”
Two women have said Biden touched them inappropriately in the past. Amy Lappos, a former aide to Democratic Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, said Monday that Biden touched her face with both hands and rubbed noses in 2009. Former Nevada politician Lucy Flores penned a magazine essay last week in which she wrote that Biden kissed her on the back of the head in 2014.
路透社認為，被女性指控“不當行為”，可能會直接影響到拜登角逐民主黨2020總統大選初選的前景。不過也有輿論稱，只要拜登做出“吸取教訓”的姿態，及時止損，仍然可以為自己正名。
