作為一項能力類的測試，GMAT撂倒了多少託福110/雅思8分大神，可見英語好不代表就能輕鬆斬獲700分。那麼，有同學就問：英語好，看來也沒啥用，那考GMAT是不是終於可以不用背單詞，練長難句啦？
Gmac老頭給你拋來一個眼神：
英語好，GMAT不見得上700， 但英語不好，GMAT卻萬萬難考700。
那麼，問題來了：什麼樣的英語水平在GMAT考試裡是足夠的？咱們用2020年OG的全部邏輯題做的一個語料分析，且來看看數據：
上圖是文章統計，難詞約佔19.07%。右邊是可讀性報告，其中各項指數的含義如下：
Flesch Reading Ease: 數值在0-100，數值越小，越難。30-50屬於難（difficult）, 0-30屬於很難（very difficult）。
Gunning Fog Scale Level, Flesch-Kincaid Grade level, SMOG Grade以及Fry Readability Grade Level大致代表了native speaker能理解文本需要接受的正規教育年數。
這三個數據均表明GMAT考試需要native speaker接受13年以上的正規教育，大致相當於native speaker就讀大二甚至更高年級。
Dale-Chall score：9.0到9.9相當於該文本處於大學可讀水平。
而下面這組Gmat閱讀文章的語料分析數據：
表明閱讀的語言難度比邏輯更上一層。
問題來了，作為廣大中國考生，我們咋知道native speaker大二時英語水平如何呢？
以大多出國考生都會參加的語言考試作為參考，咱們來看看託福的文章難度：
託福：
從以上數據顯示，各大語言考試裡，託福語言難度與Gmat邏輯相比，比較接近，但仍有一些差距，與Gmat閱讀相比則差距較大。如此，託福雅思儘可能拿高分，比如託福閱讀單項28分或者雅思閱讀單項8分，在Gmat考試上的語言挫敗感會小一些。
然而有些同學又會問了：“老師，我沒有考託福和雅思，我怎麼知道自己的語言水平符不符合Gmat 要求呢？”
那麼，咱們可以來看看幾個Gmat邏輯題裡摘錄的幾個句子：
Petrochemical industry officials have said that the extreme pressure exerted on plant managers during the last five years to improve profits by cutting costs has done nothing to impair the industry`s ability to operate safely.
Recalling every detail of all past experiences would be incompatible with any ability to generalize from those experiences.
上面兩句話均節選自gmat OG， impair和incompatible這兩個單詞，請大家思考一下是啥意思。
同學1：我知道，impair是修理/修補的意思。
老師：哦？你是說repair?
同學2：incompatible是不能比較？
老師：哦？你是說incomparable?
實際上，impair和incompatible是這樣的意思：
而真實課堂裡，很多同學因為單詞上的誤解，錯選現象屢見不鮮。
咱們再來看以下Gmat OG裡的長難句：
In the five years since the opening of Colson's, a non-discount department store, a new store has opened at the location of every store in the shopping district that closed because it could not compete with Colson's.
仔細讀一遍，能理解這個句子的意思嗎？
咱們可以先來對這個句子進行結構上的拆解，括號括起來的是修飾成分：
In the five years since the opening of Colson's, （a non-discount department store,） a new store has opened at the location of every store in the shopping district （that closed because it could not compete with Colson's）.
這個句子可以拆解成以下幾個成分：
Colson’s (is) a non-discount department store.
that (Every store) closed because it(the store) could not compete with Colson's
A new store has opened at the location of such a store.
意思就是：在Colson’s（一家不打折的百貨商店） 開張五年後，每一個因為競爭不過Colson’s而關掉的店的位置都已經開了一家新店。
