評析：

pandemic：a disease that spreads over a whole country or the whole world 大流行病
epidemic：a large number of cases of a particular disease happening at the same time in a particular community 流行病；傳染病
endemic (in/to ...)：regularly found in a particular place or among a particular group of people and difficult to get rid of 某地流行的；某地特有的
這三個詞可以用作形容詞和名詞，endemic用作形容詞更多些。
pandemic強調在全國或全球蔓延，epidemic強調在某地區多人同時感染。這三個詞裡，epidemic最常見，也最常用。
2.
very：very已用爛，避之唯恐不及。如果鐵了心要用，就先用跟“娘希匹”對等的國罵damn代替看看是否順耳（參閱《簡潔的原理》（英文版），第200頁）。刪去very，或用frighteningly，如何？
Threat of pandemic has become real，或者
Threat of pandemic has become frighteningly real
世界衛生組織官員的原話不能改，改為間接引用就解決問題了。
Italy placed the whole country under an unprecedented lockdown on Tuesday to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus outbreak, while the World Health Organization warned that "the threat of a pandemic has become very real" as the virus has a foothold in so many countries.
評析：
1.
lockdown：the confining of prisoners to their cells, typically to regain control during a riot (多指暴亂期間為控制局勢而對囚犯施行的）臨時監禁。這個詞主要在北美用。由這個意思引申出另一個意思：a state of isolation or restricted access instituted as a security measure 隔離；關閉（作為安全措施）
看到lockdown首先想到的是監獄的監禁。詞有隱含意思，一定要弄清楚（參閱《簡潔的原理》（英文版），第135頁）。做外宣的朋友尤其要注意，不要盲目從外刊上拿詞用：自以為用了個好詞，其實卻是站錯隊、表錯態。
用quarantine：a period of time when an animal or a person that has or may have a disease is kept away from others in order to prevent the disease from spreading 檢疫；檢疫期。可以搭配的動詞有：enforce ~；keep sb/sth in ~；put sb/sth in ~。
2. novel coronavirus
“新型冠狀病毒肺炎”及其英文名novel coronavirus pneumonia是我國衛健委命名的術語。世界衛生組織給出的命名是COVID19。最早與我國停航的意大利其病例與我國沒有關係；意大利一號病例跟武漢市華南海鮮市場的病例同為一代，但該號病例跟我國沒有任何接觸史。意大利的疫情跟我國無關。意大利的疫情應該用COVID19。
3. spread
spread前面用動詞fight不太好。可以選用的動詞有兩類：（1）halt、prevent、stop、tackle；（2）combat、contain、control、curb、limit、reduce。
4. outbreak
能說to fight the spread of the COVID 19 outbreak嗎？不行。to prevent the outbreak of COVID19？可以。
5. while
while什麼意思？我不知道。因為while可以表示and at the same time、whereas、although等多個意思。參閱《簡潔的原理》（英文版），第201頁。
