生活是艱辛的。沒有哪個人的生活，是一帆風順的。既然如此，選擇適合自己的生活，不將就，是對自己的一生都是很必要的。
一旦我們真正瞭解了生活是艱難的，一旦我們真正理解並接受這個現實，那麼，生活就不再困難了。因為一旦接受了現實，生活困難的事實就不再重要了。
Once we truly know that life is difficult------once we truly understand and accept it------then
life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.
但大多數人並沒有充分認識到生活是艱辛的。
Most people do not fully see this truth that life is difficult.
相反，大多數人或多或少地抱怨遇到的問題有多嚴重，自己的負擔有多麼重，遇到的困難有多麼大，好像生活本來應該是容易似的。
Instead they moan more or less incessantly, noisily or subtly, about the enormity of their problems, their burdens, and their difficulties as if life were generally easy, as if life should be easy.
生活就是一系列的問題。我們是想抱怨生活，還是想解決問題?
Life is a series of problems. Do we want to moan about them or solve them?
生活之所以艱辛，是因為要面對和解決問題的過程是痛苦的。遇到問題的性質不同，會使我們感到沮喪、悲傷、孤獨、內疚、後悔、憤怒、恐懼、焦慮、痛苦或絕望。這些都是令人不舒服的感覺。生活中有無窮無盡的問題，生活總是艱難的，充滿了痛苦和快樂。
What makes life difficult is that the process of confronting and solving problems is a painful one. Problems, depending upon their nature, evoke in us frustration of grief, sadness,loneliness, guilt, regret, anger, fear, anxiety, anguish, or despair. These are uncomfortable feelings. Since life poses an endless series of problems, life is always difficult and is full of pain as well as joy.
