念研究生應該培養什麼樣的能力？
美國科學院於發佈的一本Careers in Science and Technology: A Student Planning Guide to Grad School and Beyond（http://www.nap.edu/openbook.php?record_id=5129），裡面第133和134頁談到了我們念研究生應該培養什麼樣的能力。
Skills and Attributes that Contribute to a Successful Career as a Scientist, Engineer, Scholar, or Professional
Intellectual Skills 智力
1.Honesty(誠實）
2.Curiosity （有好奇心）
3.Discrimination—ability to distinguish what is important from what is trivial
（辨別事情的輕重緩急）
4.Imagination and creativity
（培養自己想象力和創造力）
5.Common sense
（對環境條件和事實的感知的理性的判斷！）
6.Objectivity
（客觀理智的對待問題！減少主觀臆斷造成的損失）
7.Intuition
（判斷客觀事實、痛苦與快樂的直覺）

（對大自然、科學技術和社會生活的感受力和洞察力）

（不要因失敗而放棄，有主觀能動性，勇敢的行動！責任心很重要）

（不斷進行客觀的自我批評，別人的指責有一部分在於自己的錯）

（領導和管理的能力，課題由自己管理、小組成員都應該有管理這個小組的責任心，這個隊伍才能不斷前進）
Habits of Work工作習慣
1. Efficiency in the use of time
（高效利用時間！我們還要玩兒，念研究生，20%時間玩兒，80%工作；在工作的時間裡也是隻有20%是最有效的時間，不要連這點時間都kill。）
2.Persistence—ability to see things through to completion
（要堅持到最後，不能輕易放棄，其實一開始需要認識到結果，對工作有一個全景的假設）
3. Capacity for sustained intellectual and physical work
（勞逸結合！只學不玩兒，聰明的孩子會變傻！All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!!這是科研中更應該注意的。）
4. Orderliness
（條理，別亂）
5. Ability to meet deadlines
（經常給自己設定deadlines會是一種促進和鼓勵）
Mechanical Skills動手能力
1. Manual dexterity
（手靈巧度）
2. Skill in the development, selection, and use of appropriate scientific, engineering, or artistic apparatus, machines, and models
（開發、選擇和使用適當科學、工程或藝術儀器、機器和模型的技能。）
所以，念碩士博士能幹什麼？重點不是你可能會學會做科研。更為重要的是它對自己4方面的培養：
1、思維層次和方式
2、獨立思考能力
3、學習能力
4、溝通能力
做科研本身需要深層次的思考力、極高的獨立性、一流的學習能力和超強的交流能力！能看到有些人博士畢業時還沒有自己的正確的、獨立的思考方式，甚至不能順利表達自己的意圖。這個過程你可能還會克服自己的性格缺點、會學會傾聽、學會尊重他人、欣賞他人、感謝他人、關愛他人，所以，別浪費了這個高學歷。
