故事：陳寔曉喻樑上君子 CHEN SHI METAPHOR THE GENTLEMAN OF THE BEAM
陳寔①在鄉間，以平和的心對待事物。
Chen Shi① in the countryside, treat things with peace of mind.
百姓間出現爭執官司時，陳寔判決公正，告訴百姓道理的曲直，百姓回去後沒有埋怨的。
There was a dispute lawsuit between people, Chen Shi justice, tell the people reason, the people back after no complaints.
大家感嘆說：“寧願被刑罰處治，也不願被陳寔批評。”
Everyone exclaimed, "I would rather be punished than criticized by Chen Shi."
當時年成不好，民眾沒有收成，有小偷夜間進入陳寔家裡，躲在房樑上。
Bad harvest at that time, people have no harvest, a thief into Chen Shi home at night, hide in the beams.
陳寔暗中發現了，就起來整頓衣服，讓子孫聚攏過來，正色訓誡他們說：“人不可以不自我勉勵。不善良的人不一定本性是壞的，壞習慣往往由不注重品性修養而形成，於是到了這樣的地步。樑上君子就是這樣的人！”
Chen Shi secretly found, just up to clean up the clothes, let the children gathered, primly admonished them said: "people should encourage themselves. The person who is not kind is not necessarily bad in nature, bad habits are often formed by not paying attention to character cultivation, then to such a point. The gentleman of the beam is such a man!"
小偷大驚，從房梁跳到地上，跪拜在地，誠懇認罪。
The thief was so surprised that he jumped to the ground from the beam and knelt down to plead guilty.
陳寔慢慢告訴他說：“看你的長相，也不像個壞人，應該深自剋制，返回正道。然而你這種行為當是由貧困所致。”
Chen Shi slowly told him, "judging by your appearance, you do not look like a evil man. But your behaviour must be the result of poverty."
結果還贈送二匹絹給小偷。從此全縣沒有再發生盜竊。
As a result, he also gave two handkerchiefs to the thief. Since then, there has been no theft in the county.

①陳寔(104年-187年)，字仲躬，潁川許縣(今河南許昌長葛縣古橋鄉陳故村)人 。東漢時期官員、名士。
