英語語法及短語一直都是同學們學習的難點，容易記混，更容易分析不清， 所以很多同學丟分，甚至不得分。下面這些句子，分析明白了，英語也就沒啥問題了。

- It was 3 hoursbefore the fire was put out. 過了三個小時大火才被撲滅。

- It is no use/goodlearning withoutpractice. 學而不用沒有用處/不好.
- If you hadcome earlier,you would havemet him. 如果你早一點來你就會遇上他了。（對過去的虛擬）
- (How)I wish I knew theanswer now, but I don’t know. 我希望我現在知道答案。（wish）

- If you had taken the doctor’sadvice, you would recover now. 如果你聽了醫生的勸告，你現在就康復了。

他在進球之前猶豫了一下，要不然，球就進了。

- What good news it is! 多麼好的消息啊！Howbeautiful the flowers are! 這些花多麼漂亮啊！
- It is the ability to dothe job that matters.是工作的能力重要。（強調句）
- How wasit that theymanaged to finish the work in such a short time?
他們究竟是怎麼樣在如此短的時間完成工作？（強調句型的疑問句）
- Large quantities ofwater have beenpolluted. 大量的水已被汙染。（主謂一致）
- Between the two windows hangsa picture. 在兩扇窗子中間掛著一幅圖畫。（介詞短語放句首，全部倒裝）
- The big tree is fourtimes the height of thatsmall one. 這顆大樹的高度是那棵小樹的四倍。
- We have produced twicemore grain this year than wedid last year. 我們今年生產的糧食是去年的兩倍。
- There are fivetimes as many students as weexpected. 到的人是我們預計的五倍。
- I spent twiceas much time on my studies as youdid. 我花在學習上的時間是你的兩倍。
- The more careful youare, the fewermistakes youwill make. 你越仔細，出錯越少。
- I can’tagree with you more. 我完全同意你的意見。
- I havenever seen abetter film (thanthis). 我從未看過比這還好的電影。
- Never before haveI seen such amoving film.=I have never seen such a moving film before. （否定詞與倒裝）

- He arrived at the station,only to findthe bus had left.（結果狀語，出乎意料）
- The patient needs operating onat once. 這位病人需要馬上做手術。needdoing = need to be done
- Addicted toplaying computer games, he was absent-minded in class. 沉迷於網絡遊戲，他上課心不在焉。
- So many people beingabsent, themeeting had to be put off. 由於多人缺席，會議不得不推遲。(獨立主格)
- Not havingreceived a reply, he decided to write a sixth letter. （havingdone 是完成式，表發生於謂語前）
