Technically WeChat can do anything in the app, basically by offering the web version of respective services/apps. Usually I use WeChat for communication and news reading, for other things (ride sharing, online shopping etc) I’ll just use the native app, because it’s easier. Most people cannot leave WeChat because it’s the de facto the default IM service in China and there’s no better alternatives to it.
