Do NOT take good leaders for granted.

They:

他们:

1. Take hits for the greater good of the team, whilst simultaneously providing a safe place for them to think and operate

2. Positively represent their staff in forums where they cannot represent themselves, and then hold themselves to account in front of their own team

3. Understand the greater strategic picture and then are not afraid to get their hands dirty in the delivery

4. Are often the first to arrive and the last to leave, but make sure their staff are home with their families & friends

5. Seek to professionally develop, so they can one day be better than themselves

6. Invest in their people because it is the right thing to do, and then selflessly share their own precious resources with their teams

7. Pay their staff before themselves

When you have a good leader you damn well know it! For everyone else we have to learn what not to do from the poorer displays of leadership that surround us.

What I can say with confidence, is if you get a good one, latch on to them for the short time you have them and learn all that you can. Time has a unique way of taking them away on new quests and initiatives...
