'My body seemed to offend him, but he couldn't help but stare, especially when I was eating. ' she says of stepfather Crayton Hodge, who she calls 'Trigger'.

Chrissy claims the abuse happened mainly when her mother was at work.

'He never punched my face. Just my body, the thing that offended him so much. He shoved me, slapped me, punched my arm. He would hit me if he thought I looked at him wrong. I remember being on the kitchen floor after he knocked me over, and I was begging to know what I did. He just shoved me hard with his foot.' she says.

In a Dailymail.com exclusive earlier this month it was revealed Chrissy was abandoned by her Navy veteran father when she was eight.

She recalls in her memoir that she never 'bonded' with Mark - she doesn't call her father 'dad' - and that she was hesitant to use his last name when she made it in Hollywood.

'Mark is a stranger to me and I had absolutely no idea how to magically bridge the gulf between us,' she writes.

After Metz landed a role on My Name is Earl as a cheerleader named 'Chunk', she bought two tickets to Florida so Eaden could meet her family.

She writes, however that Eaden, who is quiet and reserved, didn't get along with her loud and outgoing family.

The couple's relationship quickly deteriorated over the years, with neither comfortably opening up to the other and each focusing on their own career.

It was after a visit from Eaden's parents that the couple decided it was time to divorce in 2013.

In the years after her divorce, Metz landed a spot on American Horror Story and scored her breakout role as Kate Pearson on This Is Us.

She's focused on forgiving the people for her own 'sanity' instead of holding on to the hate in her life.
