another, other, (the) other, (the) others其實幾乎就和其它普通的名詞代詞一樣用，只需以定冠詞the表特指為抓手，就能秒懂並徹底掌握它們的用法。
“the other＋單數名詞(=the other)”“另一個”，特指（談論的事物中）剩下的唯一一個。
the other=the other＋單數名詞，反之亦然。換句話說，the other＋單數名詞，其名詞可省。
One of your socks is here, where is the other one? 你的一隻襪子在這兒，還有隻在哪兒？（當然問的是兩隻襪子中剩下的唯一一隻)。
I have three pencils, one is blue, one is red, ______is yellow.我有三支鉛筆，一支藍的，一支紅的，另一支黃的。(特指三隻中最後剩下的唯一一支用the other (one/pencil).
“the other＋複數名詞(=the others)”“另外那些，其它那些”，特指（談論的事物中）剩下的那些（剩下的全部）。
Jim and Kate are going boating, what about the others(the other kids)? Jim和Kate要去划船，別的人呢(特指除Jim, Kate之外，剩下來的全部孩子）
Just you and Ros are here, where are ______?就你和Rose在這兒，別的人哪兒去了？(特指你和Kate之外，其他所有人在哪兒，用the others)
如果談論任意的另一個(非剩下的唯一一個)，不定數目中的另一個用another（another來自an+other，a/an表泛指，但不能寫作an other）。
another=another+單數可數名詞，即another可作人稱代詞也可作形容詞用，後面可跟單數名詞也可單獨使用。
They have kicked another goal. 他們又進了一個球了（不定數目之“又一個，另一個”）
You've broken my pen, but don't worry, I have ______.你把我的筆弄壞了，但別急，我還有一支(不定數目之“又一個，另一個”用another ＜或another one/pen＞)
如果談論任意的“另外的那些，別的那些”(非剩下的全部)，用other＋複數名詞（=others)(other後跟不可數名詞時不可寫為others，因為others是複數）。
If you are in trouble, you can ask your parents, your friends or others (other people) for help.如果你遇到麻煩，你可以向父母，朋友或別的人求助（非特指parents, friends之外剩下的所有人，故不用the others而用others）
----What are the people doing in the park?
----Some are flying kites, ______are boating. （公園裡不可能除了放風箏的，剩下的全部都在划船，所以不用the others＜＝the other people＞，而用others＜=other people＞）
