光緒元寶是清朝光緒年間流通的貨幣之一。由湖北兩廣總督張之洞率先引進英國鑄幣機器鑄造銀元和銅元，之後各省紛紛仿效。共有十九個省局鑄造，除中央戶部，地方省所鑄銅元，皆在其正面上緣鐫寫省名。光緒元寶是大清光緒年流通大面值貨幣之首，是我國首批引進海外技術的印發流通貨幣，對於現今也蘊藏了一定歷史意義。
Guangxu Yuanbao was one of the currencies circulated during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Guangdong and Guangdong provinces in Hubei, took the lead in introducing British coin machines to mint silver and copper yuan, which were followed by other provinces. There are nineteen provincial bureaus casting. Except for the central household department, the copper coins cast by local provinces are all inscribed on the upper margin of their fronts. Guangxu Yuanbao is the first large denomination currency circulated in Guangxu year of the Great Qing Dynasty. It is the first circulation currency to introduce overseas technology in China. It also has certain historical significance for today.

清末銅元主要有“光緒元寶”和“大清銅幣”兩大類。“光緒元寶”中有一種正面鐫有“戶部”字樣，背面有英文“HU POO”字樣的銅元，就一直被誤認為是設在天津的戶部造幣總廠所鑄，蓋望文生義而未加深究之故也。從現存的銅元史料和實物上分析就會發現，所謂的“戶部”光緒元寶銅元除了幣面上的中英文“戶部”標識外，再無任何可與戶部造幣總廠聯繫起來的證據，而與北洋銀元局鑄造的銅元之間，不僅形似，而且存在著深刻的關係內涵。
Copper coins in the late Qing Dynasty mainly consist of two categories: Guangxu Yuanbao and Daqing Copper coins. In Guangxu Yuanbao, there is a copper coin with the words "Hubu" on the front and "HU POO" on the back. It has been mistaken for the coinage of the Hubu Mint in Tianjin, which is not deeply studied because of its literary significance. 江南省造光緒元寶十文
此枚“ 江南省造 光緒元寶 每元當制錢十文”，藏品正面中珠圈內鐫滿漢文“光緒元寶”四字，圈外上端鐫“江南省造”，下端鐫幣重“每元當制錢十文”。錢幣背面中鐫一個飛龍，上端鐫英文“江南省”，左右兩側分別鐫一個長六花星。此枚錢幣包漿渾厚，流通使用痕跡明顯，錢幣上面的圖文至今仍然清晰可見，此錢幣具有很高的收藏價值。
This collection has four characters of "Guangxu Yuanbao" in Chinese in the middle of the Pearl circle on the front of the collection, "Made in Jiangnan Province" on the top of the circle and "Made in Jiangnan Province" on the bottom of the circle. On the back of the coin is a flying dragon and on the top is the English "Jiangnan Province", with a six-flower star on the left and right sides respectively. This coin has a thick purse and obvious circulation marks. The pictures and texts on the coin are still clearly visible. This coin has a high collection value.
