Australia to ban migrants from Sydney or Melbourne

Australia plans to ban new migrants from living in Sydney and Melbourne.
The policy is designed to counter population growth in the two largest cities and alleviate pressure on schools, healthcare, public transport and housing.
Thousands of Britons, Australia’s third biggest source of new arrivals, will to be affected by the change, likely to be introduced in the new year, which is also meant to try and rebalance growth towards towns suffering population stagnation or decline.
Under the plan, presented by Alan Tudge, the population minister, the government intends to impose visa conditions on tens of thousands of migrants requiring them to settle outside the two big cities for up to five years.
