二、零冠詞的用法：

我們先解釋一下什麼是零冠詞。零冠詞就是不使用冠詞，即在名詞前沒有不定冠詞a/an和定冠詞the,也沒有其他限定詞的情況。

1. 用於複數名詞前表示泛指

Women always have the last word.

2. 用於語言、學科、三餐、球類、棋類等的名詞前

English is widely spoken all over the world.

Physics is important in all the subjects.

Breakfast is the first meal in a day.

Football is the most popular game in the world.

Can you play international chess?

3. 用在職位、頭銜以及國名、地名和其他專用名字前

President Trump, Dr. Smith, China, Tibet

4. 用在介詞by加交通工具結構中

by bus/ train/ plane/ boat

5. 用在某些固定搭配裡面

husband and wife, young and old, in pencil, at work, in time, on time

三、不定冠詞a/an的用法

1、用在單數可數名詞前，泛指一類人或事物

A whale is the largest animal in the world.

2、第一次提到某人某物

There is a man waiting for you at the gate of the school.

3、表示速度或頻率，意思是“每一”

We have three meals a day.

4、用在固定搭配裡面

once in a while, for a while, once upon a time, as a whole, tell a lie

不定冠詞的用法當然不只有這4種，今天我們只挑出了這4種常用的。

· 還有一點要補充的是a和an的區別， a 用在輔音音素開頭的詞前，an 用在元音音素開頭的詞前。有很多同學會直接記成a用在輔音字母前，an用在元音字母前，這種說法是錯誤的。比如：a union, a university, a one-eye dog,這幾個詞開頭都是元音字母但是就不能用an ,因為它們的發音是輔音開頭的，union 音標是/ˈjuːniən/ ,開頭是輔音音素/j/, one 音標是/wʌn/，開頭是輔音音素/w/,所以即使它們開頭是元音字母但還是用a。還有一些以輔音字母開頭的詞前會用an ,比如an hour, hour 第一個字母h是輔音字母但是它的音標/ˈaʊə(r)/ 是元音開頭，所以要用an。

這點大家一定要弄清楚，a和an 是根據音素來區分的，並不是字母。

四、定冠詞the的用法

1、特指某人或某物

This is the house which I lived in ten years ago.

2、用於第二次提到的人或物前

There is a boy on the playground. The boy is Tom.

3、用於自然界中獨一無二的事物的名詞前

The earth goes around the sun.

4、用於可數名詞單數前表示一類人或事物（這種用法和不定冠詞的第一種用法一樣）

The panda comes from China.

5、用在樂器名詞前

My sister enjoys playing the piano.

6、用在姓氏的複數名詞前，表示全家人或者夫婦兩個

The Browns are going to visit China next week.

7、用在形容詞或分詞前，表示一類人或事物

The old will be replaced by the new.

8、用在地理名詞前，表示江、海洋、山脈、群島、海峽、海灣

The Pacific is the largest ocean on earth.

9、用在序數詞或形容詞最高級前

Chinese is the most difficult language to learn.

10、用在某些固定搭配裡面

all over the world, in the past, in the end, at the same time
