◎ Are people politer now than in the past?
Yes, definitely. And a typical example that pops into my mind is smoking in the public area. I remember when I was a little kid, the smokers, including my father, used to care less about people around them. I mean when they wanted to smoke, they just lit the cigarette without asking for permission from others, which was really annoying. But nowadays, the situation has improved a lot. Most smokers have become politer and they would ask: “would you mind my smoking here” to get permission from others. I think it is a very good change and people are getting politer than before.
