四六级写作是四六级考试的第一项，时间限制在30分钟。四级要求作文字数不低于120个词，六级要求作文字数不低于150词。四六级写作的出题形式主要有提纲式，情景式，图画式及图表式。掌握四六级写作的主要题型，并分析范文写作思路，就能摸清四六级写作的套路了, 帮助你获得考场头筹。
一、提纲式作文
提纲式作文一般在题干中列出2点到3点写作提示，考察考生对此现象及观点的看法进而展开讨论，行文时可按照提示一一对应到各个段落。
二、情景式作文
情景式作文的题目中会限定一种身份、场景和情形，常常利用书信等应用文形式来考察考生。
例：2016年12月真题
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay .Suppose you are two options upon graduation: one is to take a job in a company and the other to go to a graduate school. You are to make a choice between the two. Write an essay to explain the reasons for your choice. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
情景式作文，比提纲式稍难，需要自己提炼信息拟出行文段落。一般首段交代背景，表明主题及论点; 第二段用举例论证、因果论证或对比论证的方法来证明观点; 第三段总结结论。
遇到书信等形式时，需要注意使用应用文的标准格式。—般来说，英文书信的结构通常包括六个组成部分：信头(heading，包括寄信人地址和日期)、信内地址(inside address，指收信人地址)、称呼(salutation)、正文(body)、结束语(complimentary close)、签名(signature)，有时候还包括附言(postscript〉和附件 (attachment)，一般考试中只要求包括称呼、正文、结束语和签名四个部分，写作应用书信型作文时内容要直截了当，中心突出，层次分明，格式正确，语言得体。
模板：
① Dear______(称呼),

三、图画式作文
图画式作文通常反映一个社会现象或生活哲理，要求考生根据自己对漫画的理解来写作。因此，要写好四级漫画作文，审题格外重要。考生在下笔之前要仔细看漫画，弄清漫画的寓意，这是文章切题的保证。
Directions部分对于考生把握作文主题有一定的提示作用，基本给出了写作的大致方向。另外，有些图画或图表旁边或者下方会有文字提示，使考生更容易捕捉作文的主题，不容易写"跑题"、写"偏题"
四、图表式作文
例：2012年12月真题
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Education Pays based on the statistics provided in the chart below(Weekly earning of 2010). Please give a breif description of the chart firse and then make comments on it. You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.
写图表作文时，常采用三段式的陈述方式。文章的第一段往往分析图表中的数据变化反映什么问题或趋势，概述图表所揭示的信息。第二段分析造成这一问题或趋势的原因。第三段则展望未来的情况或提出解决问题的办法或建议。
图表作文里的常见的重点词汇：
1、图形种类及概述法：
泛指一份数据图表：a data graph/chart/diagram/illustration/table
饼图：pie chart
直方图或柱形图：bar chart / histogram
趋势曲线图：line chart / curve diagram
表格图：table
流程图或过程图：flow chart / sequence diagram
程序图：processing/procedures diagram

3、图表中的数据（Data）具体表达法
数据（Data）在某一个时间段固定不变：fixed in time
在一系列的时间段中转变：changes over time
持续变化的data在不同情况下：
增加：increase / raise / rise / go up ……
减少：decrease / grow down / drop / fall ……
波动：fluctuate / rebound / undulate / wave ……
稳定：remain stable / stabilize / level off ……
