Age 意思是“年齡”，come of age是什麼意思呢？
首先我們來看看come of的意思：
①Victory will not come of itself.
②Your illness come of drinking too much.
上面第一句話的意思是“勝利是不會自己來的”，第二句的意思是“你的病是來自喝酒過量”，所以，come of表示“起源於，是…的結果”。
Come of age的意思是“來源於年齡”嗎？
我們仍然先來看看下面的例句：
③In some countries，boys come of age at sixteen. 在某些國家，男孩是十六歲成年。
從這個例子，我們可以推測出，句子要表達的意思可能是“在某些國家，男孩子在16歲就達到了某個年齡”。
實際上，come of age的意思是“成年，達到法定年齡”。又如：
④He has now come of age. 他已到了法定的年齡。
⑤When you come of age , you will have more freedom. 你成年後，將會擁有更多的自由。
⑥In China, children come of age at the age of 18. 在中國，孩子們18歲成年。
而“未成年”可以用be under age來表示，如：
⑦He started drinking in pubs when he was still under age. 他還沒成年就開始到酒吧去喝酒。
