MATT HANCOCK yesterday announced new measures aimed at meeting the government’s ‘challenging’ target of 100,000 virus tests a day by the end of the month.
The health secretary said at No.10’s daily briefing that all essential workers and members of their household will be able to book a test online at gov.uk.
These will be carried out at dedicated regional testing sites and existing NHS facilities. There will also be mobile units and home testing for those who cannot travel.
Mr Hancock said: ‘Because capacity has increased so substantially, we are now able to expand who can get the tests. Our ultimate goal is that everyone who could benefit from a test gets a test... It’s all part of getting Britain back on her feet.’
