近日，BBC发布的一条消息引起了不小的轰动：被称为史上最伟大的科学家和人道主义者的爱因斯坦，其在中国旅行的日记被曝光后，伟大的光环上也被扣上了“种族歧视”的标签。
很多人把爱因斯坦曝光的日记称之为“相对震撼论”，他们表示自己并不能接受自己心目中形象高高在上的伟大科学家爱因斯坦会说出这样让人难以接受的言论。

一代伟人爱因斯坦究竟怎么描述国人呢？
近百年前爱因斯坦在中国旅行时私下记录了对中国人的种族主义看法，英国媒体报道说，爱因斯坦的评论不乏种族主义和歧视妇女色彩，但在当时那是比较普遍的看法。
Nearly a hundred years ago, Einstein recorded racist views of the Chinese privately while traveling in China. British media reported that Einstein’s comments were racist and discriminatory against women. However, at that time, it was a relatively common view.
除此以外，爱因斯坦的日记中还记录了他在日本期间对于日本人的印象，而这里面的描述与爱因斯坦给中国人的描述是截然相反的。
爱因斯坦在日记中还提到日本人，中国人和印度人所谓弱智的生物起源。在1921年爱因斯坦获得诺贝尔物理奖后在日本旅行期间做过演讲，他在讲话中赞扬日本人，说日本人"朴实无华，体面，总体来说令人愉快"。
Einstein also mentioned Japanese in the diary. The Chinese and Indians are called mentally handicapped. Biological origin. In 1921, Einstein gave a speech during his travels to Japan after receiving the Nobel Prize in Physics. He praised the Japanese in his speech and said that the Japanese are "pretty, decent, and overall enjoyable,"
其中，英国《卫报》在其报道中还进一步指出，爱因斯坦不仅对中国人有疑似“种族歧视”的看法，还对日本和印度人也有着疑似“人种”上的歧视，比如认为中国、日本和印度人在智力上都有着天然的不足……
爱因斯坦还在私人日记中表达了歧视和轻蔑女性的言论。例如他评论当时中国女性说：中国的女性与男性基本上看不出来有什么不同，更实在难以理解这样的中国女性为啥能吸引中国的男性与他们不断生育后代。
Einstein also expressed in private diaries the statements that discriminated against and despised women. For example, he commented that Chinese women at that time said that women and men in China basically can't see any difference. It's hard to understand that such Chinese women are men who can attract China and continue to give birth to them.
爱因斯坦称中国人"勤劳、肮脏、愚钝"。他注意到，"中国人吃饭时不坐在凳子上，而是像欧洲人在树林里如厕那样蹲着……（中国人）安静、拘束，就连孩子看上去都很呆板、愚钝"。他还写道：中国人"生很多孩子"、"繁衍能力很强"。
Einstein called the Chinese "hardworking, dirty and dull." He noted that "Chinese people do not sit on stools when they eat, but rather like Europeans squatting in the woods... (Chinese) are quiet and restrained, and even children look dull and dull." He also wrote that Chinese people have "a lot of children" and "strong ability to reproduce."

网友们怎么看待呢？
不论是在中国网民还是外国网民，他们中的多数人并不认为爱因斯坦写在日记中的这些内容是“种族歧视”。
其中，不少中国网民的看法是，当时的中国和中国人恐怕给外国人的印象就是这样的。更何况鲁迅先生在爱因斯坦来到中国4年前（即1918年）发表的《狂人日记》中也深入地讽刺和批判了当时中国社会和中国人令人绝望的精神面貌，并揭示了封建礼教对中国人思想的荼毒。
而外国网友的看法则包括“人无完人”、“人们不该拿现在的道德标准去评判近一个世纪前的人的言行”，以及“爱因斯坦的观点也是随时代的变化而逐步变化的，不该拿他某一时期的观点去评判他”。
但似乎许多中国网民对爱因斯坦的看法表示支持，他们不认为那是对中国的侮辱。报道引用中国网友的话说：那个时代的中国人肮脏吗？从那时候的照片看，他们看上去的确很肮脏，爱因斯坦只不过准确地描述了那个时代罢了。
