FACT: Kobe’s grandmother only ever went to one of his games. The one time she did was also when Kobe dropped his legendary 81 points on the Jalen Rose Raptors. Lebronto used to be called Kobronto back in the day.

Very cool! I have a similar personal experience. I walked on to play in college, and my grandfather, who never saw me play in HS, came to one game. I had my career high in that game. Mamba mentality, I guess? Only kidding. This brought back a nice memory, though! Thanks for sharing.

I won 3 gold medals in a track meet vs Kansas School of the Deaf (they still have legs, ok) when my grandparents were in attendance.

Grandma wanted parity, knew if she went to every game the league would be pointless because Kobe would drop 81 every night. Her refusing to come sucked just enough energy out of him to allow other players to compete.
