读大学的时候，有一次口语课下课之后，我和两三个同学找新西兰外教Ken讨论问题。后来Ken手机响起，解答完问题之后，他匆忙离开，出门的时候，很礼貌地问了一句：（Do you ）need me to shut the door ？因为知道shut up 这个单词是“闭嘴”的意思，所以听到shut这个单词，我没有一点违和感，但确实是第一次听说“关门”还可以用
shut the door 表达。当时是初春，伴有凉风，有点冷，我们对外教Ken说，yes，thank you ！然后他就把门关上了。
本节课，我们就来讨论要表达“关门”，除了close the door 究竟有哪些形象的英语表达。
第一个：shut the door 关上门，把门关紧
日常口语交流中，英语native speaker 用 shut the door，比close the door 更加广泛。那么close the door 和 shut the door 有什么区别吗？
一般来说close the door，在正式的文体中出现比较多，比如坐高铁，地铁，公交车的时候，广播播放的无一例外是close the door。而shut the door 就显得更加口语化。另外一点，shut 有“紧闭，不留缝隙”的感觉，所以我们外教说shut the door 显得很贴切，冷的天气，当然要把门关紧一点，不让风透入。Close就表示广泛的“合上，关上”，比如，老师可以说close your book，但是极少有老师会说shut your book。
Lucy went into her room and shut the door behind her.露西进了自己的房间，随手把门关上。
要注意，shut 还可以表示“使停止营业，（商店或者公司）关门，打烊，机器停止运转”。
The bank shuts at 4 O'clock.那家银行四点半关门。the factory was shut down for lack of funds.这家工厂因为缺乏资金倒闭.
第二个：slam the door 砰一声关门
单词slam 意思是：（使...）砰地关上，表示很用力，而且伴随着异常大的声音。
He stormed out of the hose，slamming the door as he left.他怒气冲冲地从房子里出来，把门砰地关上。
关于slam 有个习惯表达：
slam the door in sb's face
让某人吃闭门羹，把人拒之门外
当着某人的面，砰地一声关上门，当然是很强烈的拒绝行为！翻译成“拒人千里之外”非常合适。
第三个：bang the door 用力关门
单词bang 的意思和slam的非常接近，也是用力关门，并且伴随着响声。
Don't bang the door when you go out ！出去的时候，别那么砰一声地关门。
Bang 还有：猛敲，砸的意思，这个词相当暴力！
She banged on the door angrily.她愤怒地砰砰打门。
关于bang，有个习惯表达 ：
bang the drum（for sb/ sth）
为...竭力鼓吹，摇旗呐喊
字面意思很清楚了，猛击打鼓，声势浩荡，要上战场的节奏。
