讀大學的時候，有一次口語課下課之後，我和兩三個同學找新西蘭外教Ken討論問題。後來Ken手機響起，解答完問題之後，他匆忙離開，出門的時候，很禮貌地問了一句：（Do you ）need me to shut the door ？因為知道shut up 這個單詞是“閉嘴”的意思，所以聽到shut這個單詞，我沒有一點違和感，但確實是第一次聽說“關門”還可以用
shut the door 表達。當時是初春，伴有涼風，有點冷，我們對外教Ken說，yes，thank you ！然後他就把門關上了。
本節課，我們就來討論要表達“關門”，除了close the door 究竟有哪些形象的英語表達。
第一個：shut the door 關上門，把門關緊
日常口語交流中，英語native speaker 用 shut the door，比close the door 更加廣泛。那麼close the door 和 shut the door 有什麼區別嗎？
一般來說close the door，在正式的文體中出現比較多，比如坐高鐵，地鐵，公交車的時候，廣播播放的無一例外是close the door。而shut the door 就顯得更加口語化。另外一點，shut 有“緊閉，不留縫隙”的感覺，所以我們外教說shut the door 顯得很貼切，冷的天氣，當然要把門關緊一點，不讓風透入。Close就表示廣泛的“合上，關上”，比如，老師可以說close your book，但是極少有老師會說shut your book。
Lucy went into her room and shut the door behind her.露西進了自己的房間，隨手把門關上。
要注意，shut 還可以表示“使停止營業，（商店或者公司）關門，打烊，機器停止運轉”。
The bank shuts at 4 O'clock.那家銀行四點半關門。the factory was shut down for lack of funds.這家工廠因為缺乏資金倒閉.
第二個：slam the door 砰一聲關門
單詞slam 意思是：（使...）砰地關上，表示很用力，而且伴隨著異常大的聲音。
He stormed out of the hose，slamming the door as he left.他怒氣衝衝地從房子裡出來，把門砰地關上。
關於slam 有個習慣表達：
slam the door in sb's face
讓某人吃閉門羹，把人拒之門外
當著某人的面，砰地一聲關上門，當然是很強烈的拒絕行為！翻譯成“拒人千里之外”非常合適。
第三個：bang the door 用力關門
單詞bang 的意思和slam的非常接近，也是用力關門，並且伴隨著響聲。
Don't bang the door when you go out ！出去的時候，別那麼砰一聲地關門。
Bang 還有：猛敲，砸的意思，這個詞相當暴力！
She banged on the door angrily.她憤怒地砰砰打門。
關於bang，有個習慣表達 ：
bang the drum（for sb/ sth）
為...竭力鼓吹，搖旗吶喊
字面意思很清楚了，猛擊打鼓，聲勢浩蕩，要上戰場的節奏。
