俞宁先生是本学会创始期常务理事和核心组成员、学刊英文编委，虽然其个人专业是英美文学（特别是对于Thoreau的研究），但是他的汉学造诣一直为学界仰慕，就是其单位也在开设相关课程：https://westerntoday.wwu.edu/tags/ning-yu
他的父亲是汉语学界大名鼎鼎的俞敏教授。而英语学界鼎鼎大名的胡兆麟教授，据他本人说是他的舅舅。他的研究专业是英美文学，又承汉语研究的家学传统，自然是属于“镇中西”那一类的学霸好汉。如我等出身日本关西地区的京都学派的“镇关西”是无法与之相比的。
至今，我没有见过他。但是他当选为本学会常务理事后，我认真仔细地通过网络、人事和论著加深对他的了解。我仔细阅读了这里对他的全部评价：

This was probably my least favorite class here. This professor's teaching mechanisms were unclear and unnecessary. The syllabus was always changing and many homework assignments were deleted/added minutes before class would start making it impossible to actually be on top of your work in this class. He didn't answer emails. Not the smoothest class.
