那麼在英語裡
該如何表達這項活動呢？
brush the plates?
wash the bowls?
如果你這樣直譯，那就會鬧笑話啦！
英語裡有一個專用的表達
do the dishes
從字面意思來看，可以翻譯成
“做盤子”
但是，這個就是最地道、最常用的表達哦！
我們來看兩個例句：
Since you cooked dinner, I'll clear the table and do the dishes.
你做飯了，我就負責收拾桌子，然後洗碗吧。
I always cook the meal and do the dishes! It's not fair!
我總是既做飯又洗碗！這太不公平了！
當然，do the dishes是非常口語化的表達，
正式場合也可以用wash the dishes.
例如，一個紳士可能會這樣發問：
Excuse me, madam, would you be so kind as to wash the dishes?
對不起女士，能勞煩善良的您去刷一下盤子嗎？
和這個表達類似的，還有：
do the laundry
“洗衣服”
Today is a good day to do the laundry.
今天是洗衣服的好天氣。
-I did the laundry last night.
-Did you use fabric softener?
-昨天晚上我洗了衣服。
-你加織物柔軟劑了嗎？
