In a recent budget announcement from India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, she proposed allocating funds for a National Mission on Quantum Technologies and Application. The funding would be for a five year period and bring India’s level of funding at levels similar to the U.S.’s National Quantum Initiative Act and the European Union’s Quantum Flagship.
Although India’s activity in quantum computing has been relatively small up until now, this new investment is intended to make India a significant player. Recently, one of India’s major technology companies, Infosys, has indicated they are starting look at potential quantum offerings.
