解僱

boot的意思是“靴子”或“長筒靴”。get是得到的意思。這跟解僱有什麼關係呢？boot在這裡實際上是指用靴子“踢”人的動作。

get the boot這個習慣用法的意思是，僱員做錯了事情，至少是讓老闆不高興，結果被老闆“踢”了出來，也就是中文裡的“炒魷魚”。
