Email中别再用「Thank you in advance」 了,老外看到真的很生气

商业Email没有老师教,所以办公室流传着各种错误的Email格式,与不合时宜的说法。想象收到一封信开头是「亲爱的女士/先生」,恐怕会认为是广告垃圾信件吧,英文Email也是同样的道理。不要小看Email,好的Email让人觉得你专业、有条理、明快。怎么写,看这张表就清楚。

Part 1. Dear已过时,Hi才是商业Email标准用法

还在用"Dear"判断同仁有没有礼貌的人注意了,英语系国家现在大多使用较轻松友善的"Hi"。

Dear Angel,

其实没有错,只是就像银行或其他服务寄来的「亲爱的顾客您好…」,现在看起来有点太矫揉。

(X) Dears, Dear Both, 两种用法,往来国外Email请避免。

(√) Hello/Hi, Hi Everyone, Dear Team Members, Hey Folks, 更轻松的用法,请用在和熟人沟通。 Angel, 过去我们认为没有招呼语很失礼,事实上现在是可以直接称呼名字的。

Part 2. 「由于」还是导致班机延误

在Email中交代事由,抱着有单字就用的心态,小心闹笑话。

(X) The bad weather resulted from the delay of the flight.

(√) The bad weather resulted in the delay of the flight. 坏天气导致班机延误,result in是导致,result from是由于,可以这样记:from something一定是原因。另一个常见错误是,认为Due to=becauseof,其实due to更像caused by(起因于),而且前面要加be动词。

(X) The meeting was canceled due to the rain.

(√) The cancellation of the meeting is due to the rain.

Part 3. 先谢谢了」很惹人厌

Thank you in advance 意味着对方已经同意你的要求,让看信的人不舒服,这是心态上的错误,老中或老外都会犯。更好的说法是:

I will be grateful for the help.

I hope you will be able to provide the information.

Part 4. Appreciate不是Thank you(X) I appreciate you for the opportunity.

(√) I appreciate the opportunity.

(X) He thanked for the opportunity.


Part 5. 谜样的错误

如有任何问题,请让我知道。这句话少了「有」。正确说法是:

(√) If there is any question, please let me know.
