To fight the coronavirus, China placed nearly 60 million people under lockdown and instituted strict quarantine and travel restrictions for hundreds of millions of others. Its campaign has come at great cost to people’s livelihoods and personal liberties.

这一事件也在引发了中国媒体的热议，人民日报更是称其为驰名“双标”。
今天借这个话题，就跟大家聊一聊
“双标”的英文说法：“双标”是网络流行语，完整说法是“双重标准”，翻译为“double standard”。 指“对同一性质的两件事情，使用不同的评判标准（a double standard implies that two things which are the same are measured by different standards）。
例句：
The governor is being accused of (having) double standards in being tough on law and order yet allowing his own cabinet members to escape prosecution for fraud.
州长被指责“双标”，他一方面要求严格对待法律和秩序，另一方面却纵容他的内阁成员逃脱欺诈起诉。
