1 源 起
Origin
由UN Studio 和Cox Architecture 共同提交的設計方案“城市綠脊”（Green Spine）贏得了“South bank by Beulah”的國際競賽。“South bank by Beulah”旨在打造一個國際化的全新生活社區- 真正的多種功能混合用途開發項目，形成一個高度規劃的綜合性中心建築。該提案圍繞由縱向互聯的露臺和廣場組成的「Green Spine」而建。
The design proposal “Green Spine”jointly submitted by UN Studio and Cox Architecture won the international competition of “South bank by Beulah”. South bank by Beulah aims to create a new lifestyle precinct of international significance - a truly mixed use development, comprised of a variety of functions that create a hub of integrated programmatic intensity. The proposal is integrally organised by one Big Detail: a‘Green Spine’of vertically networked platforms, terraces and verandas.

Green hub

The Spine is conceived as the conceptual and physical extension of South bank Boulevard. From street level, a series of stairs and stepped terraces lead the visitors up along the retail and entertainment programme to the Garden at the top of the podium. These terraces act as platforms that can be activated for art and cultural performances, installations or events. From thereon, the Spine twists into a series of outdoor spaces and green devices along the facades of the two towers, culminating at the top of the residential tower as the Future Garden and creating a striking presence in Melbourne’s skyline.

City within a City

UN Studio’s design proposal for South bank by Beulah aims to establish a new destination for the South bank area and Melbourne. The proposal is integrally organised by one Big Detail: a ‘Green Spine’of vertically networked platforms, terraces and verandas.

This multifaceted spine is created by the splitting open of the potential single mass at its core, thereby forming two separate high rise structures and causing them to reveal the almost geological strata of their core layers as they rise above a light-filled canyon.

As a result of this design intervention, the towers that emerge on either side can enjoy porous city views and vastly improved contextual links, while the residences, offices and the hotel benefit from increased daylight and access to outdoor spaces.

The orientation of the Green Spine further enables an extension of the public realm on the podium, the continuation of green onto the towers and facilitates orientation to the CBD and the Botanical Garden at the top of the towers.

Reaching a height of 3562 metres, the taller of the two towers will be entirely residential. This tower will also be housing a publicly accessible garden at its top a publicly accessible garden at its top. The lower tower will be home to a hotel and commercial space and top out at 252.2 metres. In addition to being fully integrated within the existing Melbourne network of cultural, entertainment, leisure and commercial venues on offer, with its variety of programmes and connectivities, the design further proposes a mixed-use building that is a city in itself.

Platform interconnection

Motivated by concepts of togetherness, community, as well as the repair and restoration of the local urban fabric, South bank by Beulah promotes open access to visitors throughout.The Marketplace on Ground Level is a permeable and inviting space, acting as a “Living Room” that seamlessly connects City Road, South bank Boulevard and Waterfall Lane. From thereon, a continuity of escalators, lifts and stairs inside and out of the podium volume lead the visitors up through 5 levels of innovative retail space toward a multifunctional 3,000-seat entertainment facility. With its multitude of potential configurations and uses, the facility will play a strong communal role in South bank and beyond. Topping the Podium is the Town Square - the largest public area of the project, offering distinctive cultural attraction that enhances South bank’s status as Melbourne’s prime Arts Precinct.

Future office space

All programs are connected along the Green Spine, creating innovative spatial solutions unique to each component. In the Office tower, it is envisaged as an open co-working/ hot-desking zone, with indoor and outdoor spaces.Offering spatial diversity to today’s workplace is key. We propose environments that promote flexibility, collaboration and exchange of knowledge. Users can choose between brainstorming on the green balcony, collaborating in the winter garden, or focused work in the middle zone.

6 自然奢華的雙重體驗
A double experience of natural luxury
再往上是塔樓的酒店區，這條「綠色樞紐」成為酒店和酒店式公寓的戶外設施。可通向套房的寬敞私人花園和公共花園，體現了對未來新一代酒店空間設計理念，既能在都市環境下帶來奢華的入住體驗，同時又能讓入住者感受到大自然的魅力。酒店頂級餐廳佈滿鬱鬱蔥蔥的綠植，同時又可將空中城市美景一覽無遺。
Further above, in the Hotel tower, the Spine becomes outdoor amenity space for the hotel and serviced apartments.Generous gardens, both shared and private to suites,anticipate a novel generation of hotel developments,focusing on the luxury of experience and connectedness to nature within an urban environment. Top-level restaurant of the hotel will incorporate lush planting with aerial city views.

Reconstruction of life ideal
在住宅區內，「綠色樞紐」營造出各種綠植空間，包括半私人露臺和私人露臺。South bank by Beulah 不僅能讓入住者體驗置身綠植中的生活方式，而且還能欣賞綠意盎然的墨爾本風光，從而帶給他們獨特的體驗。當然，佈滿綠植的環境設計不僅能讓居民享受到綠植環繞所帶來的健康益處，還有助於緩解強風、噪聲、灰塵和二氧化碳等環境問題。小型公園是散佈在住宅塔樓中的私密聚集空間，讓居民在自己的居住環境中盡情放鬆、聚會並形成一種社區感。
Within the residential precinct, the Spine brings various green moments as either semi-private or private terraces.A sense of living in the green and having one’s views of Melbourne framed by plants is an experience unique to South bank by Beulah, together with health and well being benefits of visual exposure to vegetation and the environmental mitigations against wind, noise, dust and carbon dioxide. Pocket parks, as intimate gathering spaces scattered throughout the residential tower, invite the residents to relax, meet and enjoy a sense of community within their living environment.

8 未來花園
The future garden
沿著充滿景觀設計的住宅塔樓向上，最終可抵達頂層的“未來花園”。這座頂層花園的設計運用了創新的景觀技術，園中佈滿各類現代植物品種。訪客還可以在此俯瞰整座城市壯美景觀，遠眺植物園中的各種特色景觀，從而讓該項目能夠鮮明突出其設計理念。
The landscaped journey up the residential tower culminates in Gardens of the Future at the very top. A showcase for innovative landscape technologies and contemporary use of plant species is paired with view across the city towards the Botanical Gardens, reinforcing its conceptual relationship to the project.
