在前幾天，各國都紛紛表態：
- 瑞士奧委會：”考慮大局，呼籲推遲東京奧運會。“
- 挪威：”若不推遲東京奧運會，挪威將不會派遣運動員參加。”
- 英國：“有可能退出奧運會：“隨著情形變得複雜，我們看不到有什麼辦法可以進行下去。”
- 加拿大：“我們將不會派對參加2020東京奧運會，“沒有什麼比運動員和國際社會的健康與安全更重要。”
鑑於當前疫情形勢，東京奧運會推遲舉行，東京奧運會成為現代奧林匹克124年曆史上，首屆延期舉行的奧運會。
