如何区别 in the way/on the way/by the way/in this way/in a way 的用法?
当看到用以上五组短语选择填空时，有些学生往往一头雾水，不知道如何区别它们。下面我们分别举例讲解。
1. in the way 意为 “挡道的；妨碍人的”。
eg. Tom is standing in the way.汤姆挡着道了。
拓展：
get in the way of + 名词 / 代词 / 动名词 “妨碍……”（这是初中课本中出现的一个重要短语）
eg. a)But sometimes these can get in the way of their school work.但有时这些爱好会妨碍他们的功课。
b) Noises can get in the way of thinking.噪音会妨碍思考。
2. on the way
1）表示“在途中”，若表示在去某地的途中，其后要用介词to接地点名词表示目的地，若目的地是副词，则不用to。例句：
a) On the way to school, I met my best friend yesterday.
昨天在上学的路上，我遇到了最好的朋友。
b)I bought a book on the way home last night.昨天晚上，在回家的路上我买了一本书。
拓展：
on one’s way 在某人去---途中eg. Lily saw an accident car on her way to hospital.在莉莉去医院的路上，她看到了一场车祸。
2）表示“在进行中”，常用作动词be的表语，后接介词to+动名词或动作名词。
eg：She is on the way to being a singer.他快要当歌手了。
3. by the way 意为“顺便说一下”，常用做状语。
By the way, what happened to him last night? 顺便问一下，昨晚上他发生了什么事？
4.in this way 意为“用这种方式”
eg. In this way they can finish the work better.这样他们就能更好地完成这项工作。
5. in a way意为“在某种程度上”
eg. a) The work is well done in a way. 从某种程度上说,这工作做得不错。
b) You are right in a way. 在某种程度上你是正确的。
