英語單詞“equipment、device”和“appliance”都有“設備”的意思，那麼，我們應當怎樣區分它們的不同呢？
讓我們通過一段情景描述來理解這三個詞的區別。jimmy 剛剛到家，他正準備歸整行李。他的新公寓裡會有哪些“設備”呢？我們來聽一段介紹。
Jimmy just moved into his new flat and is ready to unpack. First, he put away his clothes, his mobile devices, his cycling and diving equipment, and then he put all his books on the shelf. The flat is equipped with household appliances such as a fridge, a freezer, an oven, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a TV, etc.
Jimmy 剛剛搬進他的新公寓，正準備整理行李。他先收好衣物、移動設備，放好了他的自行車和潛水裝備，並把所有的書都擺上書架。這間公寓備有冰箱、冰櫃、烤箱、洗碗機、洗衣機、電視等生活家電。
單詞“equipment”表示“特定活動所需的設備、器械”，是不可數名詞。如果想說“一件設備”，我們可以在“equipment”前搭配“a piece of 一個，一件”，即“a piece of equipment”。
單詞“device”通常指“小巧的電子裝備或設備”，比如“移動設備 mobile device、聽力裝置 listening device”。“Device”是可數名詞。
單詞“appliance”尤指“家用電器 home appliance”，比如冰箱、烤箱、洗衣機等等。
