最近听英语节目听到一句话The Porsche has been collecting dust since the man was broke。

你可不要把“collecting dust”理解成“这个保时捷在收集灰尘”哦！那也太土豪了吧！用保时捷当“垃圾车”？

其实人家垃圾车还看不起保时捷呢，那么小个空间，哪够我装垃圾。哼，傲娇脸！那到底啥意思呢？

1）“collecting dust”咋理解？

Collect是收集，dust表示灰尘，collecting dust意思就是东西放久了，灰尘自然就积多了，指积灰。

比如说下面的英语例句：

① I found all his old books collecting dust in the basement.

我发现他所有的旧书都在地下室积满了灰尘。

② I bought an expensive badminton racquet last month but I never used it. It's just collecting dust in the corner of my room.

我上个月买了一个很贵的羽毛球拍，但我从来没用过。它只是在我房间角落里积灰。

2）“Change a bed”可不是“换一个床”！

为了让你的床不积灰，你需要时不时“change a bed”，这是个固定搭配，英文解释：

To remove dirty sheets from a bed and replace them with clean ones.

把床上的脏床单（sheets）拿掉，换上干净的。

也就是换床单的意思，除了change a bed，也可以说change the bed，change the sheets或change bed sheets。

因此，有人叫你“change a bed”可不是让你“换一个床”！而是叫你换床单啦！

英语例句：

① - How often do you change a bed?

- Oh? We need to change bed sheets? Why?

- 你多久换一次床单？

- 哦？我们需要换床单吗？为嘛?

3）是时候学点“家务”了！
