A new machine called ‘The Revealer' has been invented and it has been used to detect gold which has been buried in the ground.
called過去分詞做定語“被稱作”，has been invented被動語態在現在完成時中的使用，it has been used to被動語態在現在完成時中的使用，gold which has been buried in the ground.定語從句，先行詞在從句中做主語，從句又是個被動語態在現在完成時中的應用。
The machine was used in a cave near the seashore where -- it is said -- pirates used to hide gold.
was used被用來。it is said（據說）插入語。where關係副詞引導的定語從句，在從句中做地點狀語，從句是完整的句子。pirates used to hide gold海盜們過去藏金子的地方，過去常常做某事句型，這句型強調現在已經不那樣了。
The pirates would often bury gold in the cave and then fail to collect it.
海盜們過去常把金子藏在那個洞裡，然後就沒有去取（沒說現在怎麼樣）。
Armed with the new machine, a search party went into the cave hoping to find buried treasure.
Armed with the new machine,過去分詞短語做伴隨狀語，表示“帶著”、“裝著”、“穿著”等，hoping to find現在分詞做目的狀語，帶著尋找被埋財寶的希望。
再看一個新三的句子
Armed with a torch, the vicar went up into the clock tower to see what was going on.
簡直就是一模一樣的句子，希望你能去使用
The leader of the party was examining the soil near the entrance to the cave when the machine showed that there was gold under the ground.
隊伍的領導正在檢查洞口的土壤時，the entrance to the cave洞的口，介詞用了to，機器顯示土下邊有金子
