EU4 is so addicting because any player, no matter where they come from, where their parents come from, or where their ancestors come from, they will find a place that they can call their own in EU4.

Not only can everyone relate to a nation (or several), but there are nations that maybe you learned about in school or online and you can learn more about them simply by playing this game. For me, this nation I am talking about is the Ottoman Empire.

I can create my own European nation and compete to be Emperor as the Holy Roman Empire. I can create a nation in Siberia and compete with Mongolia, Ming, and/or Korea.

EU4 is so addicting because of how complex it is. It is so addicting because everyone can find something that relates to them. It is so addicting because you have so many choices.

I really want to play EU4 again, now, thanks for that. Probably going to do an Ottoman trading empire via colonialism.
I once colonized much of the Americas and even founded the US on the East Coast - as Japan (I love that DLC that lets you get institutions in your provinces by investing monarch points into developement points in those provinces). And of course I once also conquered literally all of Europe in the “endless time” (or something like that) mod, only took like 1000 years. God, I love that game.

It is very very addicting. Why? because “power” is addicting. And in this game you are either trying your best to acquire that power to not be crushed by someone more powerful, or you are powerful enough and you actually exercise it.
