Moment也是motion and forces這部分內容中比較重要的知識點，也有很多同學對這個知識點的理解不是很透徹，那麼在今天的文章中我們就一起來學習一下moment。
Moment，也就是力矩，在日常生活中其實有很多應用，比如開門，擰螺絲，蹺蹺板等等， 這都是應用力矩的例子。那麼力矩到底是什麼呢？
Moment重要知識點一：
● Moment is the turning effect.
●Moment is the product of the force and the perpendicular distance from the pivot point to the line of action of the force.
力矩就是力對物體產生使物體轉動的效果，力矩的大小與力的大小以及從軸點到力的延長線上的垂直距離有關。在上面提到的例子當中，開門的時候，大家往往會從遠離門軸的位置去開門，擰螺絲也會握住扳手的最遠端。這樣的做法其實都是在增加所說的垂直距離，可以用最小的力達到同樣的轉動效果。那麼在這裡我們要注意的是，所謂的垂直距離，是指從pivot point到力的延長線上的垂直距離。
Moment重要知識點二：
● The principle of moments:
for an object in equilibrium, the sum of the clockwise moments=the sum of the anticlockwise moments about the same point.
● For an object in equilibrium, the resultant force on it is zero and the principle of moments should be applied (resultant moment is zero).
當物體在平衡狀態下（in equilibrium）, 物體resultant force為零，說明no motion，物體還需要resultant moment為零，說明no rotation。這兩個in equilibrium的條件同學們在答題的時候也要注意哦。
下面我們用一道例題來看一下如何應對moment
A student is being weighed. The student, of weight W, stands 0.30m from end A of a uniform plank AB, as shown in Figure 1.
The plank has weight 80N and length 2.0m. A pivot P supports the plank and is 0.50m from end A.
A weight of 70N is moved to balance the weight of the student. The plank is in equilibrium when the weight is 0.20m from end B.
Determine the weight W of the student.
解題思路：
題目中關鍵詞是in equilibrium，那麼可以用the principle of moments來計算。題中的plank weight 80N對應的距離為0.5m，weight 70N對應的距離為1.3m，這兩個力的力矩是clockwise moment；學生的重力W對應的距離為0.2m，力矩是anticlockwise moment。
解題步驟：
Step1：the sum of clockwise moments = the sum of anticlockwise moments about the same point
Step2: 70x1.3+80x0.5=Wx0.2
Step3：W=655N
