昨晚，當巴黎聖母院（法語：Notre-Dame de Paris）的尖塔在大火中墜落的時候，有多少人的心跟著一起碎了。
當地時間4月15日傍晚，這座已經在塞納河畔佇立了800多年的天主教堂突然起火，大火持續了幾個小時。
現場濃煙滾滾，竄過聖母院130米高的屋頂，似乎瀰漫了整個巴黎的天空，讓人絕望。用巴黎聖母院發言人當時的話來說：
"Everything is burning, nothing will remain from the flame.”

法國著名作家維克多·雨果（Victor Marie Hugo）的鉅作《巴黎聖母院》讓這座哥特式建築為世人皆知，成為法國最有代表性的歷史遺蹟。小說中有一句臺詞：
“人的心只容得下一定程度的絕望，海綿已經吸夠了水，即使大海從它上面流過，也不能再給它增添一滴水了。”或許，這也可以用來描述人們面對這座歷史古蹟、世界遺產、宗教聖地被大火吞沒時時絕望的心情吧。
在法國的街頭，成千上萬的人們靜靜地站著，凝視著火光，也有人默默哭泣。人們自發唱起聖歌，走進教堂祈禱。

為何它如此牽動人們的心？
關於巴黎聖母院，你或許還不知道的一些事實：
❶ The cathedral receives almost 13m visitors each year, more than the Eiffel Tower.
這座教堂每年都有1300萬遊客前來參觀，比埃菲爾鐵塔的遊客還要多。
❷ Built in the 12th and 13th Centuries, it was currently undergoing major renovations.
它是在12-13世紀間建造的，當前正在進行大規模的修復。
❸ The roof, which appears to have been heavily damaged by the blaze, is made mostly of wood.
教堂屋頂主要是木質結構，因此禁不住大火的侵蝕。

法國總統埃馬紐埃爾·馬克龍（Emmanuel Macron）得知消息後，立刻取消了當天晚上的電視演講，趕到火災現場。
他說：今晚發生的事情是糟糕的悲劇。這是我們的歷史，它被燒掉了。
"What's happened this evening is obviously a terrible tragedy." "This is our history, and it's burning."聯合國秘書長古特雷斯在一條推文中說：
“火災席捲巴黎聖母院的照片令人驚恐，自14世紀以來，它一直是獨特的世界遺產典範。”
世界各地的人們都緊張地關注火勢，為教堂祈禱。梅姨也發了推特：
連特朗普也沒有忘了來湊熱鬧，建議從空中灑水滅火，製造出“會飛的水箱（flying water tankers）”。
消防員們很快趕到現場，卻也對火勢的蔓延表示無奈。

Locals are not famous for their sunny disposition, but few can walk along the banks of the Seine in the central part of the capital without feeling their spirits rise at the majestic bulk of Notre-Dame.
