The King’s New Clothes (3)

Not long after, the king sends another honest official to see the cloth. The official comes to the weaving room, of course, he can’t see anything too. When the two liars ask him if the cloth is beautiful, he says: “ Yes, it’s very beautiful.” He doesn’t want anyone to know that he can’t see the cloth.

A few days later, the king wants to see the cloth. So he takes all his officials to go with him. When he comes to the room, he sees the two men are working hard on the machines. But he can’t see any cloth. The king thinks: “ Why I can’t see the cloth? Am I a foolish man? This is the most horrible thing to me!” The two liars ask:“ My majesty, how is the cloth? Is it beautiful?

Are you satisfied with it?” The king says: “ Yes, it’s very beautiful. I like it very much! This is the best cloth I have ever seen!” All the officials say the cloth is so beautiful, and they suggest the two liars to make some clothes for the king, so the king could wear the new clothes on tomorrow’s parade ceremony. So the two liars work for the whole night. The next morning, they show the new clothes to the king.

“ My majesty, these are the trousers, this is the robe and this is the coat !” they say, “the clothes are so light, so you can’t feel them when you wear them. This is why they are so special.” All the officials say : “ What beautiful clothes!” , but actually, they can’t see anything.

So the king puts on the new clothes, he stands in front of the mirror, appreciates his new clothes. He says: “ The clothes fit me very well.”

Then, the king comes to the street for the parade ceremony. All the people come out to see the magical clothes. They all say that the clothes are very beautiful, because they don’t want others to know that they are foolish. Suddenly, a kid says : “ But the king doesn’t wear anything!”

Then some people say : “ The kid is right, the king doesn’t wear anything.” At last, everyone says : “ Yes, the king doesn’t wear anything.”

The king is a little scared, because he thinks that they are right. But he must finish the ceremony, so he walks more proudly.

不久以后，皇帝派另一个诚实的官员去看布。这位官员来到了纺织间，当然，他也什么都看不到。当两个骗子问他这块布是否漂亮的时候，他说：“是的，它非常漂亮。” 他不想让任何人知道他看不见布。

几天后，皇帝想看看布。于是他带着所有的官员和他一起去。当他到了房间的时候，他看见两个人在机器上努力的工作着。但是，他看不见任何布。皇帝心想：为什么我看不见布呢？难道我是一个愚蠢的人吗？对我来说这真是最糟糕的事了。两个骗子问：“陛下，这块布怎么样呢？它是不是很漂亮呢？您对它满意吗？” 皇帝说：“是的，它很漂亮，我非常喜欢。它是我见过的最漂亮的布了。” 所有的官员都说这布很漂亮，他们建议两个骗子用布给皇帝做些衣服，这样皇帝就可以在明天的游行大典上穿了。于是，两个骗子工作了整个晚上。第二题早上，他们把新衣服拿给皇帝看。“陛下，这是裤子，这是袍子，这是外套，” 他们说，“这些衣服非常轻，所有当你穿着它们的时候，你根本感觉不到它们。这就是为什么它们如此的特殊。” 所有的官员都说：“好漂亮的衣服啊！” 但是事实上，他们什么都看不见。

于是，皇帝穿上了新衣服，他站在镜子前面，欣赏着他的新衣服，他说：“这衣服非常适合我啊！”

然后，皇帝来到大街上参加游行典礼。所有的人都出来看这件神奇的衣服。他们都说这衣服太漂亮了，因为他们不想让别人知道他们愚蠢。忽然，一个小孩说：“但是，皇帝什么也没穿啊！” 然后，一些人说：“那个小孩是对的，皇帝什么都没穿！” 最后，所有的人都说：“是啊，皇帝什么都没穿！”

皇帝有点害怕了，因为他认为他们说得对。但是他必须完成典礼，于是他走得更加自豪了。
