我们经常用must或者have to说明“必须要做......”，有时候这两个词并没有多在区别，可以相互替换。
- It's late, I must go now. 或者 It's late, I have to go now.
表达上的区别
但是，在两者这间其实有一个区别，而且有时候在表达上相当重要。
Must更多表达主观意愿上的“必须”，当我们在表达个人感受的时候，用must。
- I haven't phoned Kofi for ages. I must phone him today.
我已经好久没给Kofi打电话了，我今天必须打给他。
- I haven't got much more time, I must hurry.
我已经没有更多的时间了，我必须赶紧地。
Have to更多是非主观意愿上的“必须”，可能是因为一些规则，或者情况，导致你“必须”去做，所以更多说是“不得不”。
- You can't turn right here, you have to turn left.
你不能在这右转，这儿必须左转。（因为交通信号灯的规定）
- My eyesight isn't very good, I have to wear glasses when I read books.
我的视力不是很好，读书的时候我必须带眼镜。（因为眼睛视力差的情况）
时态使用上的区别
must可用于现在时态和将来时态的表达，但是无法在过去时态中使用。
- I must go now. The train will leave in 10 minutes.
我必须走了，列车10分钟之后就开。
- I must go back home tomorrow.
我明天必须回家。
但是，没有I must go yesterday/ last night(X) 这种说法。
而have to，则可以应用于各种时态里。
- Have you had to go to hospital?(现在完成时态)
- I had to go to hospital.（过去时态）
不过要注意，have to 在疑问句，否定句中，要和助动词do/did/does搭配使用。
- Why did you have to go to hospital?
- What do I have to go to hospital?
- Kofi does have to work on Saturday.
否定形式上的区别
mustn't 是表明某件事你必须“不能”做。
- You musn't tell anybody about this, keep it as a secret.
你不可以告诉任何人这件事，把它当作秘密。
而don't have to 则是表明某件事你不需要一定要做，可做可不做。
- I don't need to work tomorrow, so I don't have to get up early.
我明天不用工作，所以我不需要早起。
在这个层面上，don' have to 和 don't need to 意思有点相近，都是“没必要去做”。
- We've got plenty of time. We don't need to hurry.
我们有许多时间，不需要着急。
