先幫大家解決一個“老問題”，如何翻譯“廁所”這個詞:
如同中文有“廁所、衛生間、洗手間、盥洗室、茅房、茅廁”等多種說法，英文裡，表示“廁所”概念的，也有很多詞彙，我在這裡列舉一些：
(1) Restroom：美式英語，公共廁所。英式英語通常不用這個詞。
(2) Bathroom：美式英語中一般指家裡的廁所。英式英語既可以指家裡的廁所，也可以指公共廁所。但在表達“上廁所”這個概念時，無論英式美式，無論家裡的還是公共場所的廁所，都可以用going to the bathroom這個詞組。
(3) Toilet：同bathroom，美式英語中一般指家裡的廁所。英式英語既可以指家裡的廁所，也可以指公共廁所。
(4) Washroom：比較過時的詞彙。
(5) John：美國俚語，老一輩很men的人會用。
(6) Loo： 英國俚語。
(7) Water closet (WC)：比較過時的詞彙。
(8) Lavatory：給人感覺比較technical，通常在飛機上使用。
(9) Crapper：非禮貌用語。
(10) Pot：比較過時的詞彙。

I. Using the Restroom with Your Daughter 和女兒一起上公共廁所
1. Do you need to go to the bathroom? Let's go together.
你想上廁所麼？咱們一塊去。
2. Let me wash my hands first since I'll need to wipe your bottom later. You don't have to wash yet.
我得先洗洗手，因為我待會兒得給你擦屁股。你先不用洗呢。
3. Let's see if there are any squat toilets. You are too young to use the sitting toilet.
咱們看看有沒有蹲坑。你太小了，還用不了馬桶。
西方國家沒有蹲坑，只有坐式馬桶。因此，他們在區分兩者時，會管馬桶就叫toilet，管蹲坑叫Eastern toilet或者Asian toilet。但是，站在中國人的角度，squat toilet和sitting toilet是我和外國朋友們討論出的比較合適的翻譯。
4. Let's check if there's an empty stall. This one's occupied, but the one at the very end might be empty.
咱們看看還有沒有空位。這個有人，但是最裡面的那個可能空著呢。
(1) Stall：小隔間。公共廁所的“隔間”叫stall。公共洗澡間的“隔間”叫shower stall，簡稱shower。
(2) 廁所被佔用亦可用full，廁所空著亦可用open或者free。
5. Yes, we can use this one. I'll be in charge of locking the door and flushing the toilet, so try not to touch anything.
嗯，咱們可以上這個。我負責鎖門和沖水，所以你儘量什麼都別碰。
6. Straddle the toilet. Be careful not to step into it.
兩隻腳踩在坑的兩邊。小心點兒，別踩到坑裡。
7. No need to spread your legs that far. Move in a little closer.
兩條腿不用分得那麼寬。往裡點兒。
8. Move forward a bit, otherwise your bottom will touch the back.
往前點兒，要不然屁股該蹭到後面了。
9. Squat lower, otherwise you might miss the toilet.
蹲低點兒，要不然你會尿到外面的。
10. Hold onto your clothes. You don't want them to fall into the toilet.
揪著點兒衣服。別掉廁所裡。
11. Have you peed yet?
尿出來了麼？
雖然中文說尿“出來”，但是英文不能說Have you peed “out” yet。
12. Tell me when you are done and I'll wipe your bottom.
尿完了告訴我，我給你擦屁股。
13. Alright, you can stand up now.
好了，你可以站起來了。
14. Please pull up your pants quickly and don't lean back, otherwise your bottom will touch the wall.
快點兒提上褲子，別往後靠，要不然屁股該蹭牆了。
15. Don't go yet. Please wait for me to pee. I don't want you running off and getting lost.
先別走呢。等我尿完。我怕你跑丟了。
16. Let me flush the toilet and we'll go.
我把廁所衝了，然後咱們就走了。
17. There is a sink for the handicapped. It's lower so please use that one to wash your hands.
那邊兒有一個無障礙洗手池。那個比較矮，你用它洗手吧。
18. Each person should use just one paper towel because people have to cut down trees to make it. Everyone is responsible for protecting the environment.
每個人只能用一張擦手紙，因為造紙需要砍樹。愛護環境，從我做起。
19. There is a hand dryer over there. Just put your hands under it and it will blow hot air.
那邊兒有一個幹手機。你把手放到下面，它就會吹出熱風。
II. Before Sending Your Son to the Restroom 讓兒子進公共廁所前
20. Try to aim in the middle of the urinal when you pee. You don't want to pee outside of it.
你尿尿的時候要瞄準小便池的中間。別尿到外面了。
21. Be careful not to slip if the floor is wet.
地滑的時候要格外小心，別滑倒了。
22. When you use the toilet, don't forget to lift up the toilet seat before you pee.
用馬桶的時候，尿之前別忘了把墊圈兒掀起來。
23. Remember to flush when you're done.
