泰戈爾是我很喜歡的一位哲學詩人，因為是印度人，所以他的詩歌語言清麗，意味雋永，細讀之下非常有意境。以下句子來自泰戈爾的抒情詩集《飛鳥集》。
16-1.
There is the early morning light pearls tremble on the meadow flowers, pearls drop on the grass, and pearls are scattered on the sand in spray by the wild sea-waves.
那個地方，在清晨的曙光裡，珠子在草地的野花上顫動，珠子落在綠草上，珠子被洶湧的海浪一大把一大把的撒在沙灘上。
16-2.
I can easily imagine now that the sun has reached the edge of that rice-field, and the old fisher-woman is gathering herbs for her supper by the side of pond.
我能夠容易的想象：現在太陽已經到了那片稻田的邊緣上了，老態龍鍾的漁婆正在池邊採擷香草做她的晚餐。

I can just shut my eyes and think that the shadows are growing darker under the madar tree, and the water in the pond looks shiny black.
我閉上眼睛就能夠想到，馬塔爾樹下的陰影是更深黑了，池塘裡的水看來黑得發亮。

In the gusty night when the rain patters on the leaves you will hear my whisper in your bed, and my laughter will flash with the lightning through the open window into your room.
大風之夜，當雨點在樹葉中淅瀝時，你在床上，會聽見我的私語，當電光從開著的窗戶閃進你的屋裡時，我的笑聲也跟著一同閃進了。

O YOU shaggy-headed banyan tree standing on the bank of the pond, have you forgotten the little child, like the birds that have nested in your branches and left you?
喂，你站在池邊的蓬頭的榕樹，你可會忘記了那小小的孩子，就像那在你的樹枝上築巢又離開了你的鳥兒似的孩子？
